We can please everyone sort of. All we need is a pvp world. This is similar to the pvp zone suggested by the op. Personally, I think this could count as the original suggestion revised. I suggest that there be a small overworld made. Like perhaps 1,000 by 1,000 blocks at the most (or maybe 750 by 750).
In this world, and this world only, people still can't grief, but there will be no such thing as lwc (lwc would be disabled only for this world if it is possible). Deathtraps would be allowed, and so would killing others of course. These rules would allow pvp combat, sort of allow raids, and survival in this particular world would be tough.
The spoiler contains my PVP world mechanics in more detail, but here is the shortened version:
- All players must get permission from staff before getting access to the pvp world.
- PVP world spawn/warp is protected and is a safe zone to prevent spawn killing.
- No lwc in this world (detailed mechanics explains why).
Mechanics to protect players:
- The command would be "/pvpworld"
- This command would work as a warp command, and have a special permission to use.
- No warp command can do the same job as "/pvpworld"
- An op or admin must "approve" a player to enter the pvp world by applying the permission to use the /pvpworld command.
- Members can only use /pvpworld to enter the pvp world after being given the permission by an OP+. Trusted's would automatically get the permission upon becoming/being trusted. Staff would simply warn the player about using the /pvp command upon giving the /pvpworld permission, and/or upon promoting the player to trusted.
- Every time a player enters the pvp world, a warning will show up in chat.
- If a player does not have the permission to enter the pvp world, but tries to go to a /home in the pvp world, then the player would get an error for not having permission.
- The pvp world spawn/warp would be protected from pvp. Players inside cannot kill players outside of it, and players outside of it can't kill players inside of it. A good protection to prevent spawn killing.
- Only guests will be denied access to the pvp world until they become a member.
The above mechanics allow for pvp and a harsh survival world for those who like that stuff. At the same time the above mechanics also prevents players from complaining that they lost their stuff as they would have been given very strict warning by the staff before given access to the world.
1) World would be made with dimensions of 1000 by 1000
2) A command called /pvpworld needs to be made to perform "/warp pvpworld" but without making "/warp pvpworld" available to just anyone.
3) The above command would be given it's own permission (given to trusted's automatically, but also given to members when they request to get it. Once a member has the permission, it wouldn't be taken away).
4) If possible, lwc would be disabled for the pvp world only.
5) Do something to block /home teleportation if a player who doesn't have pvp world access tries teleporting to a /home that is in the pvp world.
