General Discussion / Re: Poll - Dragon Egg Problems

It's ok to take a players items, but you would expect a level of decency to return them, espicially such a valuable item, but they didn't technically do anything wrong

Yep, this is correct. It is an absolute douchebag move to take someone's items like that, and lie. However, the rules are that if the item is on the ground it can be picked up regardless of the context. Once again, it is a douche move, and it may make a lot of people distrust the player who picked up the items, but it is not bannable.

The only exception I can think of to the rule would be if a member of staff were to accidentally drop an admin item, and a player picked it up. I would expect that would be the only situation where a player would be required to forfeit the item. This is kind of like the spawn eggs being taken from all of us a while ago.

Be honest, is there anything else left to talk about? I feel like the correct answer has been given. Not illegal (fair because this is within the rules, and anyone in the game can do this without risking a ban, or item confiscation), but simply a douche move. I am sorry that this happened to you however.

Mmk, at this point it is probably more appropriate that the staff speak with you any further on this one. Your first post was fine for me to give my opinion on, which I did. Now you are simply denying that you did anything wrong which means it is no longer my part to post whether you did was wrong/worth a ban.

But I will say, 5 bans-all for griefing something-is a bit much. Plus there's that sixth grief trap ban to top things off. But as always, a staff member will take care of your ban situation when one of them can. You'd be better off making an actual ban appeal with no polls rather than making a poll asking players if your ban is appropriate.

Hmm, in most cases there would be a protection stone in place, or some sort of project protection.

Hmm, based on the logic running through my head, I would say that in even the old guest world you would have a roughly 8% chance of digging up out of a mineshaft onto someone elses property. Of course this is considering the likely chance of digging up to any property, and the chance of that specific property being unprotected.

Then of course you must consider that if you were digging upwards, you most likely would have put the blocks you broke back so you could jump up higher until reaching the surface. Meaning most of the blocks would be placed back in relatively the same manner. Plus, certainly the top ground block would be the same as what was dug up. Considering this, you are only telling the truth if:

A) You placed random blocks on your way up, or didn't place the right block on the top so the owner of the build noticed.
B) You were not trying to break in to that unprotected property
C) You didn't break or place any blocks anywhere else
D) The person accusing you has an absolute hatred for you.
E) You stumbled upon a grief trap by mistake, and tried to break out. In this case you were still griefing, but this at least shows that you most likely have intent to play instead of grief. That is, assuming everything under this idea is true.
F) You had no clue about the /home and /warps stuff (Thanks DJ, saw your post before posting this reply)

My logic does not point me in the direction of you telling the absolute truth. Perhaps you stretched the truth a bit, but it's hard for me to come to the conclusion that you told the absolute truth.

It also appears you have the ban history of a griefer. Ban after ban after ban.

Still, why not place the pvp arenas in the old guest world? They could be placed over the griefed structures of players who left a long long time ago. Even if those players came back to find their build overridden, it wouldn't matter. If you are gone for a year it's only fair your space consuming build be given up without your mere logging in once every few months.

It would give the arenas a sort of war torn exotic feel lol I know I sound all weird right now.

You can create a shop that gives more than 1 of an item for the cost of 1 of a specific item. Conversely you can create a shop that takes multiple of one item and gives 1 or more of another item. Finally, in the event of an out of stock, the shop can easily be built to not take your items.

The dimensions I remember are blurry, but I could have sworn it only takes a 6 block by 14 block by 3 block high volume to make a shop with all of the features. Add another 5 blocks to the 14 block length and you get a shop that can take more than 1 of an item before distributing the product (say, 3 iron ingots for 1 gold ingot). Of course if you only want the shop to give you one item for one item while also having the out of stock lamp + no taking items when out of stock, you can shrink the shop down to a much smaller size. I forget the dimensions, but that was the basis of the first shop I built before I starting making them more complex and able to give more than one unit of product for the cost of one unit of currency.

Yeah cschurz pulled the same thing on me. Only a gold block showed up. It's a funny and friendly joke the staff like to pull on some players.

Oh. I will come from the shadows.  Bow in hand.  And smack you with it.  My new goal is to beat someone to death with a bow

I will use a fishing rod, fish you up to the upper levels of one of the PVP areas, and then beat you to death with a feather XD

I would suggest you use a double minetrack system. A to and from track system. It will take more tracks, but it will fix the potential problem of colliding minecarts. Also, I would space your powered rails out 8 blocks each, or just close enough to keep unloaded minecarts from stopping. That way when another rider gets in range to make the empty minecart active again, it will move with its original velocity, and hopefully stay ahead of the player until it reaches the cactus/unloader.

Suggestion 2, use pistons in the unloading dock. Use a powered rail to detect the player arrival, make a 1.2 second delay with repeaters, and then have a piston push the player out of the loading dock. Use another piston to keep players from getting back into the loading dock, but that also retracts to allow players to be pushed out.

I hope there aren't hidden death traps that kill us out of nowhere. I'd be fine with deathtraps that are noticeable, and hostile mobs. Just not hidden traps.

Got it. I shall also make up a name. Passengers travel by minecart, correct? If so, do they pay for one, or do they bring their own? And something: Someone could easily use a /home to get there, so there should be something... um... fixing that. ;D Bye now!

And also, may I make a post about all the information/stations, or shall you do that ;D

Just have each station have a boarding and unboarding zone. When boarding, you press a button, a dispenser places a minecart. The user gets in, and presses a button to start the minecart. Then you have the unboarding area. This is simple. Take a hopper, place a rail on top of it. The hopper will need to face to the side. The hopper can't face forward because there will be a sand block there with a cactus on it. As the minecart runs into the cactus in the unloading zone, it will be turned back into an item that can be picked up. This item immediately gets sucked up by the hopper blow the end of the minecart rails. That hopper can then be used with some redstone work to place the minecart in the boarding/departure zone for future use. All minecarts get recycled. The only issue is if people unboard the minecart, and destroy it to take for themselves, or to leave on the tracks as an annoyance.

Ooh, is it that "metropolis" map that nobody can /warp or /home to?
Nope, it will be the PVP map that nobody can /warp or /home too lol. Metropolis is just a city.

I really wanna see Metropolis. I once journeyed from memberworld spawn to try to get a glimpse, not realizing that the no access thing was everywhere, not just nick's /home.
It's for no one's eyes except the chosen ones.

Can I be a chosen one? I'd love to just look around. Don't wanna build or obstruct anything. I'd just like to see what's there. Maybe get some ideas. Could we at least get some screenies? Is this something that is going to become an addon to the server?

Why does opti want to keep it? Personally I think it just wastes resources. The only reason I can think of for opti keeping the old world is there are players who might not get the message of the old guest world being deleted, and some players might have open builds in the old guest world.

EDIT: Shoulda read a few of the previous responses. I've seen a few servers that erase their worlds before a major update like the redstone update, but they tell all of their players to get proof and other info of their builds so they can be made into schematics and placed onto the new world. Not saying we should do this, but perhaps it would be a good idea just once to move stuff from the old guest to the new guest or member worlds.

I'm still confused as to why not use the old guest world to hold the new pvp arenas. That would be the best option of all. You wouldn't lose old guest, there would be the pvp areas made, and no new world named "PVP" would need to be made. To me the most logical thing to do, given the scenario, would be to have the pvp features placed onto the old guest world, but the pvp would only be within the arenas, and nowhere else. Everywhere outside of the arenas in the old guest would be non-pvp.
