Well many of you probably don't remember me but I havent been here in a while. I logged on to the smp server after visiting the classic server today for the first time in maybe a month or two and I get greated by my completely griefed house which had been ingulfed in a massive city! Seriously who in there right mind would grief your house then make a city where it once was. The co-ordonates are: x:157
z:-446. Im really annoyed at this. You may need some help to find where the house actually was in fact. Not only has it been ingulfed in a city but the ladscape around it has been  destroyed.

As far as I know, if you haven't been around for a few months your area is forfeit.  I've heard of mods clearing areas that have been vacant for as little as a month because active players are looking to turn it into an active location.

Just because you put down a PS doesn't mean you have a right to that spot for all time.  The mods aren't going to tear down an epic build because you decided to vanish for a couple months.  There comes a point where "griefing" stops becoming griefing and turns into "building".

My suggestion would be to find another building site (there are plenty) and log into the server every once in a while, even if it's just once a week to collect a few melons from your farm.  Show that you are using the area and haven't abandoned it.

Well thats a nice thing to say that I "vanished" for a month or two. Maybe if you knew why I wasent here you wou;dnt have said that.

Actually I don't know the reason why you weren't here and really it's immaterial.  That's not to sound cruel, because if you do have a good reason believe me, I'm sympathetic.  If every "abandoned" home was left in place just because someone MIGHT be offline for a good reason, none of the abandoned structures would ever get cleared and the server map would be overloaded.

If the area was THAT important you should have known to protect it.  If you know you're going to be away you should let someone in authority know that you're going to be away.  If you are away and it's seeming to be a long time you can take 5 minutes to drop an E-Mail, forum message, etc.  There are plenty of ways to let people know that you are going to be "absent" and your area should be preserved.  Even hospitals (if god forbid you were in one) have public computers where I'm sure 5 minutes could have been spent to drop a message.

Trust me, I am sympathetic to people who loose areas because they had other priorities.  That said, there are literally hundreds of people who come onto the server, build something, and never return.  You can't expect the server hosts to hold your area if it's had no activity for a couple months, and you can't call it grief if someone has mod permission to build on land that seemed abandoned.

My original suggestion stands.  Find another place to build, and next time you need to be absent let someone in authority know so your location has a better chance to be preserved.

Yeah I guess I see your point. I wasent in a hospital was however it was my father. My computer however was left in my grandfathers house and no one was willing to go and get it with my father being in hospital and my mother being pretty depressed. The chests are still lieing around though I guess I'll just take the stuff and go else where.

Yea, I'm sorry if I came off a bit "rude" because that wasn't the intent.  I do sympathize with your situation, but at least your chests are still there so it's not all lost.  If you're looking for a new build site I suggest you check the live map to find a suitable location and write down the coordinates so you can find it easily in-game.  There are a ton of really cool building sites still available (I've looked).

Good luck with your future builds!
