This is only a suggestion, but this rank would separate the highly skilled, highly dedicated builders from those that build to their own leisure. It's pretty much the equivalent to the Crafter in the Classic server, but not sure what kind of quirks you could grant an Architect in SMP-- probably teleporting permissions?

Anywho, the application process would be the same or similar as Crafter, where you'd need an admin's permission just to put it up and then an admin reviews it again and decides if the player has built enough fine creations to be considered an outstanding architect.

These players would also be able to help in designing new spawns and towns for new worlds (which we may be doing here in the weeks to come).

Tell me what you think. Also, the rank color would be the same as Crafter

The reason why I am suggesting this is I have personally seen some very neat constructions out and about throughout the server (Zezenov's town of Stettin, dedlymagik's city, Terrewee and ZXFEAR's joint city project -- just to name a few).

The reason we did not include any building ranks originally is because we are a survival server, not a creative server.

I guess I didn't figure that into the mix... oh well

Hold on... i have seen a lot of quite good building on smp, but the builders had so much trouble making it not because of lack of materials but not being able to get to area where they wouldn't die falling off.

I like the idea and maybe the only perk would be the ability to fly.

Persian only made good looking buildings because he could fly.

I believe that this rank could benefit smp in the long run, but only if you can realize how much good it can bring to the server. Sure our server looks nice but... the spawn really isn't that impressive and the moderator lounge is literally a box... No one likes boxes for building probably the most interesting structure in spawn is the warp station and no one goes there...

We don't need a humungous spawn, but at least something that draws people to explore rather then

Oh just run around the side look at the signs... have fun... that is super boring... and the spawn doesn't even flow well you spawn on a boring side overlook of a fountain inside a box... make it more grand and beautiful,

Our goal was to make a simple spawn that the users could get info from. We succeeded big time. Your complaints about the spawn are exactly what we were going for. No one cares about the spawn, they just want to get out into the world and play.

if i didn't know the people on the server and had never seen what the server is capable of, I probably would have said
" Egh, this spawn looks like it was stuck together in a hurry... what else does this server not care about? I think I'm going to follow the signs and see... O.o that's the market... its pillars and wood structures how long did it take them?? a day?? they really must not care about there integrity, how can i trust my buildings to people that made this... they probably don't care how my home looks... I'm gunna find a different server..."

It could at least use some improvement, such as, corners that aren't squares use stairs to give it detail, lava lighting in the ceiling with water running down the walls into a small stream going to the fountain in the middle, small stuff that makes the spawn more interesting. simple

same thing with areas like east town. You have World edit for a reason... how about using it to help the guests get materials rather then just making a giant quarry out of sand that doesn't even look natural... And people figure out that one torch harvests a column of 30 sand or more and suddenly we hear of people dieing from falling off a cliff outside of eastown...If I cared about this then I garrenty others feel the same way.

Stuck together in a hurry you say? We pulled all nighters for a week to get the spawn and the server ready. Your logic is so flawed it is ridiculous. So people will leave because of the spawn *checks players, see 130 for a Wednesday* I think you might be wrong on that one.

By the way, I am not liking the attitude you are portraying in your posts, can you please keep this a friendly argument?

No offense but do you mean to tell me you walk around servers and the first thing you do is criticize every living detail?

I guess I'm just disipointed because one of the best builders on classic made a rather disappointing spawn... I agree it doesn't have to be big and a complicated maze but... honestly you spawn on a side path... there isn't even anything nice to look at until you run all the way around the corner head down the stairs and turn around...

Also just like on Classic, Just because you worked hard on it doesn't mean its good enough.

So what your saying is that you want a big impressive spawn/build...maybe my project could fit fancies.

I would say that the castle looks far more impressive than any castle I've seen on any server, and its is a lot smaller that most castles. This is because of theme. The spawn has a theme and it suits the servers's spawn theme, and to me that's all that matters. Well there's 2 things that matter in my opinion.

1. its simple so guests can navigate themselves out
2. it looks good, not like a 13 year old spamming blocks everywhere.

Ive never heard or seen anybody complain about the spawn. I know for a fact that Nick, Relkeb and Exox put a lot of hard work into this, spending countless hours making it as good as it could possibly be and to be fairly honest, I think they succeeded very well.

I'd rather have a small and easy to get used to spawn than an enormous city where I'd get lost and have no idea where to go or what to do.

Anyways, you should really think before you post things like this and re-read your posts to make sure they make sense because what you said was disrespectful and not necessary at all.

I had offered and kindly accepted the fact that we did not need this rank, and we instantly go on and talk about spawns?

How about we all take a day trip to other people's servers and criticize about their spawns? No. This was not the approach to this topic at all. We have had NO complaints about the spawn currently, and we certainly can make adjustments when we find it necessary.

Keep these kinds of arguments out of threads that they don't belong in. That is highly disrespectful and it doesn't help in anyway except cause even more problems.
