Hello there,

I am liking the mod of REI's minimap

and I am wondering if using this mod would be considered cheating. If so, as I have not installed it, I will not install it.

The only mod you are allowed to use is Optifine. Rei's minimap is not allowed.

Rei's minimap is stupid, it gives you an unfair advantage.

I think that's a poor excuse they wont let us but I do belive the whole €dvantage thing is a flawed argument.

Diamond armor is stupid it give you an advantage.

See how that works?

If you invest the time into something that provides an advantage such as farming diamonds you deserve it.

As far as mods go there could be a list of useful mods such as reis and if you take the time to read the list that's your up if someones too lazy too that's their problem.


The only +ig advantage from reis is deathpoints and slime chunks. Mob radar and ore finder and cave mapping is turned off on smp.

Well, the server wants to remain for the most part in a 'survival' feeling. They don't want mods because they are an external source that make survival a lot easier. With the use of mods, there are things you can accomplish much faster, therefore eliminating the survival experience. Yes diamond armor does give advantages, but it's an already implemented part of the original game and it has so far not been changed in any way by our server.

There could be other reasons as to why mods (except optifine) are not allowed but I may not be aware of them.

And you don't have to get your calculator out when you want to calculate a chunk

But it's so fun calculating chunk locations!   

And whoever said chunks were 100x100 was wrong. Chunks are 16x16 blocks and goes from bedrock level to sky limit (256 blocks in this case).

So, chunks are 16x16x256

whats rei's minimap do ?x

Who said that? :S They are the ulti-derp, and I wouldn't need my calculator for that! Oh, and melon farms would be ridicolously over powered. You could get something like 50 melons a layer * 256 = 128,000 melons in about 10 minutes. Just saying.

rei's minimap is a mod that shows a small map of the world in overview on your screen.
It can show 'slime chunks' and can create 'waypoints' which you can easily go to if you find something kewl.

Sorry, just clearing a few things up.

Firstly: It can't detect slime chunks anymore, I have tested this on several other servers.
Secondly: You can't "go" to waypoints, but it tells you where they are.

This thread is irrelevant because we do not allow any mods except optifine and we dont plan on changing that any time soon.
