Hi guys,

As you all will have noticed, the SMP server is experiencing some issues in terms of stability, going into hard deadlocks which require a manual restart.
Rest assured that this is my #1 priority right now, and will be looking into some solutions to deploy in the next few hours if possible to help mitigate the instability of Bukkit right now. I will keep you posted on it.

Please bear with us.

No hurry, opti. Take your time and assess the issues.

I'm glad to hear that we are on the ball, thans opti and take your time.

Please bear with us.

Things should be a bit more stable now. The server should detect deadlocks and terminate itself, which will then be restarted by an external process.

Awesome, good job.
Any idea what's causing the instability? Is the hardware underpowered, or is it an unstable bukkit release?

Its an unstable bukkit release.

any idea when bukkit will be recommended?

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this. But people keep on dcing on Classic Forums, and we seem to have trouble opening this website. I am the only one available at the moment that has been able to log on.

is it just my PC, or is the serve down 2day ?

Today we experienced several minor crashes of the SMP server, as well as the mumble server and even the opticraft.net site itself. Have patience, though, as I know Nick, Relkeb, and Optical are probably furiously working at fixing these bugs.

As opti said before, "bear with us" until we get this fixed.

Hmm. I guess that crashed as well.

We had a bout of instability today as we came under attack on both SMP and the website.

I have adjusted the website to hopefully reduce the affects of these attacks, and updated the SMP server to potentially fix the exploit being used.

Sorry about all of this, they are simply growing pains.

How often does this happen?
