Opticraft Community

I am siding with Mr on this the whole application system is flawed for one: only 2 people will vote and decide if you should get something very important (even when they are never online to see you be you.) I mean come on optical do you really see anything else then what they are telling you? because i for one almost never see you on to see what the admins are doing. i am not trying to be a great jerk or anything im just saying the whole "only 2 admins will decide what will happen to you and if we dont like you your rejected" thiing is flawed and needs to be fixed by Mr's idea of the whole community pitching in.

Yes, I am hardly ever online, which is why I am not directly involved in these decisions. This is why I have admins and ops to assist in these matters. The admins on the other hand, Nick especially are online plenty. And as Nick said, the opinions of staff members is also valued when making these decisions.

Well, I think that it would be good if the trusted+ could have the opportunity to vote if a person with a mod app gets it. The admins cant be on all the time, and it would give off a much better idea on if people deserve mod or not. And for classic, maybe the other builders or ops. Of course, this is just my idea, and I dont expect it to really be acknowledged. Just a suggestion.

Knowing these people they'd go like in game "hey support me on my mod app please"
or "support me and i'll pay you x amount "

I should hope our mods are mature enough to not give support just because someone begs or gives bribes.

In the end, doesnt it come down to the maturity of the person to be able to make mod or OP? If they beg others or give out bribes, that seems like a possible reason to not give them full status OP or Mod, or at least keep them at it much longer. Of course I know plenty of OPs and mods who might do that but I don't really hold it against them(especially because its not really severe cases of it, most of the time, its them joking), so I respect them.

I think you need to take a step back and really appreciate what everyone has done for you and the community and really think about what you said because we all worked so hard to make this what it is today.

Im on mumble quite a bit with Nick and Relkeb, and they make their choices very wisely, and they never bring any form of favoritism into their decisions. And they do take into consideration the opinions of others, but they always have the final decision - after all, they did reach Admin by proving that they are good at doing such. Optical chooses his teammates very wisely, and Im yet to see any type of flaw in their system.

They might have school and jobs and other things that might get in the way, but they still do quite a great job at being on to see nearly every player online, at least once. Even those with ridiculous timezones.

Optical does not take much part into the mod app decisions, but that is simply because he is too busy coding the server to bring it to its full potential. Nick and Relkeb, work as a team to decide the fate of others. It might only be two people, but you cant promote 10 people to Admin simply because we need the extra people. It takes a lot of time to decide on who truly deserves such a rank in our community.

Like said above, i think Optical knew what he was doing when he chose Nick and Relkeb. They are Optical's most trusted teammates and so far they have done their duty well. There may be times when you feel their judgement is not fair, but it was a judgement decided between them both, possibly a judgement that was hard to decide. I think, as Admins, they would like to not only see our server progress but our players as well. I believe they would love to have a lot of these applicants as OPs and Mods someday, but at the moment they judge the player "unready" for a position of such high trust and seriousness. Therefore, I declare that i am siding more on the side of Nick's and Relkeb's.

I agree with most of what you said.
However, it bothers me that there are "sides" here.  We are a single community.  Taking sides results in discord.  Lets work together as a team, and work our problems with each other with respect for each other.  Which brings me to a point I'd like to make, that I'll open up a new topic for, since it isn't specifically about this discussion.

Agreed.

P.S. someone showed me this yesterday. I said this at the time because I couldn't handle all the silly conflict that occurred yesterday. (edited to only include the quote, other parts of argument removed):

Well since this suggestion isn't going anywhere, Locked. Just... keep doing what you guys are doing... I guess...
