Why Cant We Make Cobbblestone Generators

Nyssa

i also said i'd put down water if they made it with natural lava, seems none of them are trusted

lLLEGAL

I'm trusted, so will it work if I brought you to a lava cavern that I found underground, and passed you the bucket?

Nyssa

nah you'll have to make it on the spot, i won't move lava for anyone

cuz its easier to mine off a cobble generator than mining for cobble
Honestly? Are you that lazy? I mean.. honestly!?

Implosions

Seriously? You must never mine if you have a shortage of cobble.

Yes,

And lol... i always run out of cobble. ;)

But yuh u lose like 40% of the cobble from a generator and you dont have the chance of getting other ores from it too.

I made the legit generator that dedly is talking about.  There was a small lava pit near my village, coincidentally where I wanted to build a factory as part of my village setting.  I decided to make the cobble generator not because it was efficient, but because I wanted some working machinery in the factory.  It's really only for show.

It's FAR more efficient to collect cobble by digging it out of the ground.  My generator doesn't lose any cobble to lava (it uses 3 pistons to 'snake' the cobble around to a point where it can be busted one at a time) but the speed isn't very fast.  You have to time the pistons to allow the cobble to be created.  This delay is slower than just moving from block to block in a mine.

If you insist that a cobble generator is somehow easier or faster than just digging it up, you're welcome to try out the Cobblegen 3000™ and see for yourself.

beta is just simply beta and is at its finest thanks to optical. We dont need anything to "mod" the survival experience...

Cobblestone generators are not mods.

Terrewee

obsidian generators are also no mods, i have one running in my base....

If you have no other reason for a cobblestone generator than just for the sake of creating one, you're better off mining cobblestone with a pickaxe. We don't like guests being lazy or expecting more than what is offered for no reason.

I, personally, have no use for a cobble generator because of said implications and the fact that I am better off mining than cheating.

If cobblestone generators are 'cheating' then why did notch make it so when lava hits water, it turns to cobble? Cobblestone generators are only water and lava placed in such a way that they make cobblestone for you to mine.

Well I'm sure he is using the term cheating loosely, maybe he feels it is cheating (as i do) even though he isn't breaking any rules.
