Server ip: smp.opticraft.net
Status: Online

Hi guys,

As you are all aware SMP is currently offline. Don't worry - it's coming back soon (hopefully in the next few hours). No data has been lost - it is just a larger then normal DDOS attack. Currently working with that datacentre to resolve this and solve it for future attacks. I'll update the status once it changes.

Cheers!

Update: Server is back online. Just waiting for DNS to propagate. Can connect directly with the IP temporarily: 192.169.93.34 - but do not use this in long term!

Do you have any idea who planned the DDOS?

No - doubt I'd know who they were even if they told me, not that it really matters.

Oh No!!! I hope everything it backed up D: and what is DDOS?

hope it is back up soon
and it is a Distributed denial of service
a sort of hack
Also has this shut down the live map?

Are we the targets, or is the host being hit by one in general?

We are the target.

Obviously guys.
It was this guy who told us he was gonna DDoS it. And he did. Eventually.

Totally..

Everyone stay calm, and for anyone who doesn't know what a DDos attack is.  Basically someone is using a program to send large data packets to the server.  It causes it to lag out and crash.  Your accounts are not at risk, it's a novice level hack but does cause servers to restart.

Thanks Optical for looking into a solution to protect us in the future.
