hey, i heard some comments from other topics about "how can i become trusted?" and "how trusted needs more priveleges" and i was thinking, if there was a new ranking system made, we could make a more favourable system!

im not saying we should make it easier to get up in the ranks or be able to get crazy amounts of priveleges, but maybe instead of this we could break down the current ranks and priveleges into smaller bits e.g. "level 1 trusted can use ice" or something like that.

anyway, no one has to has to make action on this, but if you could still ackknoledge this as an option.

thanks!

I dunno... Possibly. This has already been discussed, though- with the Senior Trusted thing. It's up to the admins- although a purple name would be nice... O.O

Trusted doesn't exist. Lol. Trusted is just a Member who is Trusted by Senior Staff. There is no need for a new rank. =)

Breaking up ranks into smaller bits has been discussed before, and the fact of the matter is that it gets messy when we have multiple ranks.

More privileges means more reasons to brag about the rank-- we want to avoid that.

I think maybe you should look at this topic before making any rank suggestions.

Also, people can often get confused if the trusted rank was split, if their rank said "Trusted" but they were a different type of trusted. So this is most likely not gonna be implemented.

Status idea: Veteran

How to get:
1) You must be trusted. No exceptions.
2) You must be a member on the server for at least 1 year. No exceptions.

Difference between veteran and trusted:
1) Veterans are no different from trusted except they can pickup and place lava with buckets. This used to be given to trusted members, but obviously due to problems with grief it was taken away. Veterans must have a year or more on the server to be given the rank. It is highly unlikely someone will become trusted by the admins, and get a whole year on the server just so they can grief. This is the only reason for recommending that Veterans receive this even though we want to avoid making players "better" than others.

Why? The community already know who the veteran players are. Plus you can just ask a mod/op to deal with the lava for you... (Instead of waiting a YEAR)

Well you can just ask for water instead of waiting to become trusted. It's not like people will be waiting for it, just something more convenient for people who might be trusted with lava, and don't want to be a mod.
I like this idea.

Of all the suggestions for new ranks, this one seems the most realistic.

Well if it is implemented I can see a new rank coming my way in a month or so

Has smp been around for as long as a year?

I'm almost a Classic veteran (classic opticraft my first minecraft server generally, joined December 2011).

The 1.8 server has been up since September of last year, and the beta server ran before that so yeah

I do not know if you realize how little amount of trusted have been around for a year. I am an Operator and I have not even been around for a year. The only people that I can see getting this rank are the ones who moved from classic to SMP when 1.8 launched, and most of them are gone or SMP staff. If this rank is going to happen, and thats a big if, I think the time should be shortened. Also, I do not think that people realize how little you need to place lava while playing Minecraft. In my single player world, I only place lava for myself 3 or 4 times which is not worth a whole rank. If the point is so that Veterans can place lava for others, why not join staff? You say you want to avoid making players better than others? Well a higher rank makes them better than others. This rank says, "I've been here a year, I'm better than you". I believe that this should still be open to discussion but it is very rare that it will be approved.
