outa curiosity what's the stance on mods for this creative server? are we allowed to use something similar to WoM for better flying/faster travel/noclip etc

Tiggy: Flying is part of creative, so that's normal. I think that /thru will be a command available with donation and /speed will be a command obtained with higher ranks

bog loss in members, due to forced downtime refreshes. and classic itself collapsing and mojang not supporting it anymore.

Classic isn't closed, it's still up. Just not really accessible because of Mojang.
