New ranks and priveleges

I do not see myself ever wanting to be a staff member on SMP and have been trusted on the server for ten months. There are others (mostly from classic) that are both trusted on SMP and been a member for over a year.

I've been here well over a year, and on the SMP server before it even officially opened (There was this pvp map that Relkeb, Spartan and I (And some others, I think, this was more than a year ago) blew/lava-ed up)
I doubt many people see me gaining staff rank... It would be nice to have this veteran rank (I can think of a few others who qualify aswell).

So you want us to implement a rank that would basically show off how long you have been on the server? Cause that is all this is doing.

And chief, trusted users were never allowed to have lava. A few times there was a glitch to where they could use it, but never intentionally.

It depends on how you view it, but without doubt, that is how people will view it.

Lets look at trusted rank, because it is a rank. That is how players see it. Trusted players can place water, and in most, if not all, cases they are players who spent a while on the server before being granted the trusted rank for being trusted by the staff members. Giving them the fancy orange name, and the ability to place water basically makes the members envy the rank, but you all implemented it anyways... Then you tell players never ask for trusted. Then of course you have players who want trusted because they envy the rank, but I don't see many whom do that. Most of the time members and trusted ranked players just act the same. Meanwhile there's the guests which for some reason don't register to quickly become members...

In other words, Veteran rank wouldnt be different from the trusted rank. And on a side note, why not give us lava? We have water, and rarely would a trusted grief... What harm could it do.

Lets see chief a trusted with lava. My first mistake with lava as a mod was not making sure the area is protected. Next thing I know I'm trying to re compensate someone because the walked into the fountain. Now expand that scenario to being many trusted. How often would they remember to make it impossible to kill someone with it. The odds are just to high that someone would slipp up and get it taken away anyway.

Honestly i kinda like this idea it gives the trusted members who don't want to become mod another reason to stay on the server. After all former mods who were honorably discharges and longtime trusted members deserve some sort of recognition for staying on the server for so long.

It is not a down-side-- we are looking at this realistically. If you're thinking that we're just looking at this and going, "Oh, no. This is not a good idea," and then moving on to the next idea, then you really need to step into our shoes more often.

idea of trusted lava is that, Why do trusteds
need lava? Most of us don't need it
often, and it doesn't hurt to call a mod+,
I for one own Lava City,
Even I usually don't require mass lava.

I just thought of it for ex-mods honestly (What chief posted came from one of my suggestion topics) for the purpose that at least we know they were once a moderator. It shows they can really be trusted. It would NOT be given to those who were banned.

I don't think a veteran trusted rank would be a bad thing ... I mean.. Who doesn't like a nice title?
Also I have never wanted to be a mod just simply because I like having time to actually play minecraft, however I sometimes feel like people look at trusteds as those who aren't cut out for mod'ing .
In no way am I saying its necessary, and I think lava is a bad Idea (really who needs it that often that they can't call a mod?)

Anyways though back on subject I think it would be a good idea to have a veteran rank just to show who all of the trusteds that have played for a long time, have caused no trouble to opti staff, and are a bit more devoted to the game are.

Just a thought. Like I said though its not a necessity, just a cool reward for players who've been on a long time.

Every part of this reply should be an example to why we shouldn't have this rank. I'm sorry, but you made this rank sound so stupid it's not even funny. All this rank will be is an excuse to brag about how long you've been on the server for. It won't take long until people will see the rank as an ego boost rather than something people should work towards.

People who have played for a long time are already given a rank, it's called Trusted!

I could go on for ages as to why this is a stupid idea, but I won't because you get the picture. Just be happy with being Trusted people, you've already shown us, the senior staff, that you can be trusted so we don't need another rank to show us you're still here.
