Ripping people off (Tabooti's monthly polls)

Personaly, I think ripping people off should be completly fine and that no one should stop a trade, or slander a merchant, although let's say the merchant is a huge scammer, and lies about his prices, and tries to steal money from people. his reputation would become better, and eventually shunned from trade as he/she becomes untrustworthy. People would be allowed to call those people out, or simply undercut them on the spot.

The reason for a free market, is so that everyone benifits from trading, and people would be able to find creative ways to keep the market going, and would keep the server interesting. Other than that, If a person cannot figure out that he is being ripped off, it's his/her fault for not doing some research before spending money.

other than that trade should be regulated by moderator, for example somone takes somone's money without delivering the items (Then it would be the responsibility of the participants to provide proof of the deal & scam) or simply add Iconomy to the server, and solve the problem.

But anyways, this is a monthly poll, the poll will end in exactly 30 days, you may change your vote (but can only see the results of the poll after the 30 day duration to prevent people from voting based on mainstream flow.

mods should not have to regulate trading in any way. if someone agrees to an unfair trade, then that is their own problem.

Even if we "should" have a regulated system, that would be so much more strain on the staff.  So many trades happen, there's no way to regulate them all except to force people to trade through an automated system.

Selling items should not be regulated, If you get ripped off, you get ripped off.

The moderators should interfere with other members as little as possible, except when it comes to the issue of griefing and other mischievous behaviors and activities.

Sounds good so far, although what do you think if somone lies to people, and tells them that the /warp market shops sell X item for (alot more than X is) and that their Y product, is cheaper than X.

Then that person who's going to buy it should type /warp market and check it.
If they don't do that, that's their problem.

I started a stall lately with prices cheaper then the market...I disagree that mods should intervene with trades.

An item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

If people want to be sure they're getting a good deal, then they need to do their homework and look at the market prices. There's even a pricing guideline that was posted on the forum that gives a general idea of what the average player market sells items for (http://www.opticraft.net/index.php/topic,6791.0.html).

As for the trade thread, I am in favor. The only problem I foresee is people trying to call out others for their pricing when they deem it, 'unfair' and get slanderous. I suggest in the rules and policies, that such behavior lead to warnings. FAM uses such a policy and helps the site run very well:

   You may not continuously post the same thread -in hopes of receiving more member attention- as it becomes spam, and is unfair for others.
    a.   This means you are only allowed to bump your thread once every 24 hours.
    b.     If your thread is already on the first page, PLEASE DO NOT BUMP IT. You are ALREADY on the first page, so you don't need to.
    c.     Deleting your posts does not count as not bumping. We can see your deleted posts, and it is not a loophole. Don't do it.
    You should state what you are in hopes of receiving, ...

    ... a.   Be detailed and rather specific. ...

   ... You are allowed to hold a single thread with your list of digos that you are trading, and/or willing to trade for (so on).

          i.     Any comments made in the thread to harass, or otherwise discourage someone from purchasing an alt or dealing with the seller is not allowed. Please make use of the review feature to relay bad encounters.
    If you are finished with your thread, and have no need for it to remain in the forum -please edit the topic subject with, "Please Remove", or something along those lines.
    a.   This makes it easier for the staff to remove the thread.
    Make sure your topic subjects are diligent -state what is important and very well likely to grab one's attention in a respectful manner.
    People may price their items as they personally see fit.
    a.   If you have a question or concern about the price you may post politely in their thread or PM them.
    b.   If it is not your thread, then there is no need for you to go about defending or denouncing the pricing any other user has listed
    c.   Failure to comply with this rule will lead to suspension. ...

Whether or not we get a trade thread, overall:
If you don't like someone's price, then don't buy it and look elsewhere.
