Obsidian?
« on: January 10, 2012, 11:38:21 am »
Hello I was just wondering if either the market could buy obsidian or someone could give me a price for it because I have no idea how much to sell it for...

Yeah, the prices with /worth are different to the priced displayed on the signes at the Market, because the /worth prices are all set in a config file for Essentials, but the sign prices can be changed to anything in-game, and they don't effect the /worth prices (if that makes sence :P )
Also I think Opti left some items out of the Market so it makes them a little rare to obtain.

The market does not sell obsidian, but I would just recommend asking someone to make an offer, then accepting or not accepting it.

Guys? It depends on the availability.
Consider that the person tha twill offer obsidian, will spend a diamond pix to get some of them. I dont know how many you can break with one, but if one pix costs around to 1600$, then think the profit of the stones.
Thats why I dotn break obsidian. I could have 20x64 but I dont.

For example, when I want to sell something, I make a discount of 5-100-150$ on the market's price. So, everyone is satified. Ant the seller that doesnt sell it on market, and the buyer who gets it in lower price.

Imagine no diamonds from the votes. The diamonds would have 10-50$ lower than market..
Now, imagine the other products, items..

Diamond picks cost me $0? :S And so far, I have never lost money on a diamond pick (Even when I die with them). You sell what you get = profit.

Nothing? Do you use only one diamond pix a day? Still it is a loss.
I have never used on that server.. So, its profit because I sell my diamonds..

A diamond pick will last a day mate... Expecially an enchanted one.
There is no way its a loss. You can make it up by selling 20ish iron (You get atleast 3x that each pick). I don't know what you're doing, but you're doing it wrong :/

I like how you just say "you're doing it wrong" flat out. Anyways, to figure it out, just look up the number of obsidian blocks against other blocks on average that the minecraft generator will make (let's say 1/18096). Divide 18096 by the number of obsidian blocks that a diamonds pick can mine. That will be the price of one obsidian block. Then divide the price of a diamond pick by the number of blocks that you can mine with it, multiply it by the number of blocks that you are selling, then add it to the price of the blocks themselves.

I'm not sure I did the math correct since I wrote this out in like 2 minutes, so you might want to check it for me. :) Hope this helps!

I say that, no way a diamond can last for a day. I can destroy one in less than 15', if I consider my experience on singleplayer. So, its a loss from the moment that you dont spend only 3 diamonds per day.
On the other hand, I have profit because trade food for Diamond weapons and tools. I started from 5 seeds and now I have around to 600 and many profits from my trades/purchases. I dont want balance on money I want balance in my game.
I may not be so experienced and to mine all the time but I am pretty satisfied with my so far progress. I could have done better if I knew the dangers and how to search better.

(offtopic) I don't get why people need food so much. I gave some food away to some poor starters cause optical asked. One guy gave me a diamond back and  I was like, are you sure you want to give this to me? And he was like Yeah. So I just went back home and stored it. Anyways, how can you destroy a diamond pick in less than 15'?
