They haven't all been decided upon yet.
Member rank will simply be acquired by signing up on the forums.
Trusted will most likely be in game only.
More rank information will come out once its finalized.

I was once on server (WoM realms) and they have a system where you get your own world, in our case it would be a zone. To get ranked up you had to get people to /vote when in your world if they liked it. If you got so many in a certain amount of time you get ranked up.

Could this be an option, or is it not possible?

That is classic, where it works fine, but I doubt that would work in smp. People would have no reason to visit your world, it disencourages community etc.

You have to beg people to join your world to look at it.
