what has everyone been up to since 1.0 came out and sever ios down

Isn't distributing 1.81 illegal? Its safer to download The minecraft mod that allows u to revert to previous version of minecraft

Technically it is, but:
A. Its easier.
B. Its useful.
C. I don't need to download and run any programs I am not used to.
D. Do you really care?
E. Does Notch really care?
F. I am, and I suppose xDeeKay is, willing to risk Notch's wrath over distributing.
G. I am not sure how easy it is to mod with that thing.
H. Need any more reasons?
