You just need to find an unexplored bit of map inside the borders, and hope it turns into something good.
The borders aren't that far, I walked one side to the other in one minecraft day. I'm sure it's all been explored in that tight of a space.

Yes, but if you go far enough you might get lucky and find some 1.8 bioms
There is a border of the world, I already tried. You can't go past it to find 1.8 biomes.
There are still a few chunks that were not loaded and are now 1.8 biomes.

There are 1.8 biomes on the very outskirt of one part of the map, this is how some people got vines.

no no no i only took the bottom 1, it grew back!
i only took 1 little piece and then i farmed the rest on my own, it was not grief !
