That is just my school's "excellent education" for ya. I know more than that, but I had to learn it from my brother and it is technically Algebra I not 2

Algebra 2 is 10th grade math here. However, the quadratic formula is from algebra 1.

Just like many things, imaginary numbers too can have multiple names and have the same definition for each name. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imaginary_number
