Notes: I have lit up 99% of the caves around a witch hut, and turned it into a semi-farm. /home _gavin hut is at the farm.  Stand at my /home hut to get a glimpse of any spawning.  i have used 2 1/2 double chests of torches just to cover this.  It isnt super fast, but it wont get much faster on this server.  When a lot of people are on, or too close to the witch hut, it will be slow.

So as of 1.6.1 you can turn off natural healing with /gamerule Naturalregeneration false. This makes it so you must eat a golden apple or use some kind of health/regen potion to regain your hearts. I think it would be cool if we could implement this on a personal level. By this I mean you start out by default with normal healing on, but then for a more challenging gamemode you could type /gamemode Uhc, and then your natural regen would be off. Just something I find fun to do in singleplayer, really makes the game more interesting.

So recently (about a week), I started my 27 cell iron golem farm. Zeradeth_ has made the cells, whilst i have made the redstone contraptions an laid the whole structure out. For a while now I have wanted to make a fighting arena that takes advantage of naturally spawning iron golems aggression. If you punch a naturally spawned iron golem then it will chase you down, it also fights zombies. So here is my plan so far:

Large circular arena beneath the farm, there is an array of rooms. Iron golems spawn and fall in the rooms, players run around and hit each golem (this will make them agro'ed) then a piston gate lowers from each room and madness ensues. Based on how fast iron golems spawn from the 27 cell farm, golems will be able to be spawned for a new battle in a matter of minutes. Also in the biome i have a double spider spawner, and 3 zombies spawners. These could be linked up for a zombie/cave spider battle. All of this will be rather hard to set up, especially considering my current money

Being as the farm will be underground i would love some picks as well. Here is a list of what I need to make the arena:

This is a short list of what i require to make this happen. To start the arena i will clear a 200 by 200 area down to bedrock. The arenas floor will be a 51x51 circle, it will consist of obstacles. Areas for bow fire and a pit in the center with potion buffs. Eventually it will have a beacon (if we are able to buy them).

Simple suggestion, i think we should be able to turnoff loging notifications and death msgs. This way we will be able to reduce spam, have competitions that involve death (drops) and other such things. Ive seen people complain about death msgs a lot, also login notificaitons get annoying after a while. Especially when a lot of people are on.
