Player Rules and Guidelines

We encourage all players to follow these simple rules and guidelines in order to ensure everyone is having the best time they possibly can on the opticraft smp server.

Rules
1.   No destroying or modifying other players blocks (griefing)
2.   No mods or hacks at all, Optifine is ok.
3.   Do not create any obscene structures or signs
4.   No excessive swearing
5.   Do not spam the chat or repeat yourself with nonsense
6.   Please do not advertise other servers
7.   No harassing of other users
8.   Please do not ask for ranks
9.   Killing players on purpose will result in a ban
10.   Use common sense before you act. If part of you thinks what you are doing is wrong then don’t do it.


Guidelines
1.   Players cannot own mobs spawners. Mob spawners are made by the server so a player cannot claim that a mob spawner is theirs. What a player can do is build around the mob spawner so someone would have to grief to get inside.
2.   Do not ask Moderators, or Operators to TP you to another player, they will not do it.
3.   Players are not allowed to place protection stones on land that someone has already built on. Find empty land or land you have built on to place your protection stone.
4.   If you die and someone else picks up your items, they get to keep those items.
5.   Be careful who you trade with, not everyone is trustworthy.
6.     Do NOT vote for other people.
7.     Do not beg for the trusted rank. I know there is already a rule stating to not ask for ranks but i really want to get    the point across. You get trusted for being an active player that doesn't break rules or flam other users. The key to the rank is being patient.

Check back here regularly because there is a good chance more rules will be added as we progress.

It shouldn't let you place a protection stone if the zones would overlap. I will test this out later tonight though.

That wasn't actually what I was asking I was saying, if you say, built in a city, or near others, and your 11x11 protection stone covered another player's wall. What would you do then?

Then you are not allowed to place your protection stone there. And if you refuse to move it, a mod or an OP will take it.

In response to a certain thread, I will iterate the "No killing other players" rule so that it can be made a little more clear for others.

Do not attempt to kill other players (active or afk) intentionally or on purpose-- this includes pushing them off of a cliff or high ledge purposefully (falling), pushing them into water (suffocation), intentionally placing sand/ gravel blocks over a player and causing them to fall on top of the player (suffocation), etc.

Xeading, in the case of someone doing this, does it deserve a perma ban?

I would say a week at best if it was their first offense. Players should know that PvP is strictly forbidden until we come up with a solution to this (which likely won't be happening anytime soon by the looks of things)

One thing that requires clarification:

You may have seen that boats are Disabled in the market-- Use of a boat is NOT a bannable offense-- however, using a boat causes the server to lag, so please be mindful when you are using one

Just a heads-up: Players can now see a fundamental rule on the list when they type in /rules in-game:
