Did you notice that the diagram left out the CN tower?

Hi,

I tried out a 512x512x1024 map locally today, and the miencraft client simply cannot cope with it. It is too large.

It consumes 256mb of memory, which the client cannot handle.

You'll have to reconsider this project I think.

We never intended to do it that big, because it would have loads of unused space at the top. :)

The tower itself is 159x155x828. Plus the surroundings it's 411x393x832. The big world would be (optimised) 416x400x832 ~ 132mb. (...) As for the proposed limit of 80mb, a world of 320x320x832 is just over 81mb.

Out of interest, is it possible to have non cuboid world? For example, for this project a world that is wide at bottom and gets thinner at top.

we already did optical. Like Monkey said the world really only needs 416x400x832 however this can be subject to any changes or limitations you want to make. In the end a world of 320x320x832 would be the minimum required for us. I only said those numbers as an overly open estimate. I will change now the amounts to avoid any further confusion.

Seems to load up fine for me :\

(The lagg is from the recording, not actually present in WoM)

Although it does use a huge amount of memory lol:

Probably wouldn't be a good idea to make it the lobby if it ever gets completed :P

I believe Relkeb once said on mumble that to create a new world, he must use a template. So im guessing it has to be certain sized. Also i dont know hard a different shaped world would come about

I believe you still can create a world by specifying x*z*y, but it is usually safer doing it from a template, as a template is tested on forehand!: )

That sucks (compared to what I hope ours will look like) , it has no interior, no notiable exterior... It looks like it was 100% cuboid :/
