That means you are in the local chat channel (only people near you can hear), to change to the global channel type /ch g and as for the other channels you might want to use...
/ch l = Local channel
/ch g = Global channel
/ch t = Trade channel

If you want my opinion, while it is technically a necropost, it contributes to the discussion, and would not be relevant if a new topic was made. I think it's fine.
