I think there are too many things that can go wrong with everyone using world edit :/

That's wat //undo and //limit are for

Set the limit to 30,000 blocks and no one would be able to make a big enough change to be unrepairable with a quick //undo

Not everyone who hasn't used it is going to learn it in the next few weeks.

I would never expect them to learn everything about the plugin.... More like 5%... We're talking really basic commands

Get your region making tool
//wand

Set a region
Pos 1) left click wand or //pos1
Pos 2) right click wand or //pos2

Change blocks in that region
Change all) //set <block name>
Replace) //replace <old block> <new block>

"Oh shit I fucked up"
//undo

And block names are common sense not to mention now u can see block names/Ids by mousing over them....
But let's say u want stone.... <block name> = stone.....

For wat people would b using for the comp its ridiculously simple and would prolly take trying it once to understand the concept completely

exactly

restrict things like lava, fire, etc that could screw everything up, and ruin the entire event

If you don't trust someone enough to not do that, there is no way that they should be whitelisted.

Why would we need world edit for this competition in the first place?  I've never seen Nick say we're using it.

Let's just say that it makes things a lot easier.

Why would we need world edit for this competition in the first place?  I've never seen Nick say we're using it.

well lets say i need a wall, i can spend 4 hrs making it block by block, or i can make it in 2 mins with world edit, now lets say i need 6 walls..... well there goes a day of my time to build..... or with world edit... i now have an extra 23 hrs 12 mins to add details to that wall to make it sexy.....

now lets say i decide i don't like those walls.... well i either just wasted 1 day making 6 slabs that it turns out i don't like the look of an now i get to spend another day destroying it.... or..... i world edit it away, have wasted less than an hour of my time and can get back to the actual point of the competition which is building something creative....

it's not like there's some magical //awesomebuilding command that just pops out a winning structure..... world edit helps with primitive shapes square/rectangle/circle/sphere/pyramid/cylinder

so instead of wasting time google'ing circle charts not hard common knowledge....

i can do //hcyl <block> <radius> <height> n bam i have a circle without spending 2 hrs to reinvent the wheel.......

point: how would you like it if you had to prove the commutative and associative properties of addition every time you wanted to add two numbers together? because asking someone to sit there making a flat wall for hours is the same principle..... i know how to make a square..... world edit just makes it faster so i can build details instead of worrying about making a square.....

You have 2 weeks do do this project. Time isn't the issue. Therefore WorldEdit is not needed.

2 weeks isn't a lot of time so time is a huge issue, 168 hrs/week 40 hrs at work, 56 hrs sleeping 35 hrs of school so not accounting for commuting and time spent doing things other than play minecraft.... that's 131 hrs a week gone leaving only 37 hrs a week to build or 74 hrs for the length of the competition so if i spend 48 hours building and tearing down a few walls that didn't work out that i would've built in 2 mins with world edit then i have 26 hrs, or just over a day to rebuild and detail my build.....

so yea time is a big issue.... but you'd know that if you thought out your smartass remark.

He wasn't being a smartass, that's all you. Perhaps if you ask nicely, an operator might be able to help if needed. Buy I highly doubt you'll get world edit, so I wouldn't bother fighting for it.

You only have a 100x100 plot, that's not much space to fill up in 2 weeks.

Btw, nick, are you the only judge?

No you will not have world edit. With the build server being as unstable as it is, i dont want you guys crashing it every 2 min lol.

The 2 week deadline can easily be extended.
