I really think it would be smart to wait until we can get a 1.3 seed
that way there are the new npc village types and all that goodness :)
bit too late. everything is made.

That would require us to rebuild portions of the world.

Couldn't you hold off releasing the new world until after the update comes out? That way
The unexplored areas can be generated with all the new stuff by players the once the world opens, right?

The map is already created, which means everything is generated already. In order to get the new stuff, we'd have to regen a new one.

I would like to see if they could just use WorldEdit to copy/paste the builds, but I'm pretty sure that's not easy at all.

EDIT: Also, considering most people want the Emerald Ores, and they only spawn in 2 biomes, they could add a couple of those biomes only around the map.

Oh! I was under the impression that the areas the player were in, was the only generated part of the map. I understand now.

hennydeez

Switching worlds is done by command right?
I've seen this on some other server.

Okay i didnt understand it was that far into it, i thought the builds would still have to be moved around onto a new map, your ahead of me lol. Cant wait to see the complete finished version and explore the new map!

Henz- Either that or some portal type deal I would assume.

iGenerator

I heard it was going to be like classic, so by a command I presume.

Areas that currently aren't generated will generate with the new 1.3 materials when the server is switched over to 1.3, as always.

You can see places on the current server where this happened when they upgraded to 1.2, as biomes collide.  You know, you're walking along in a desert and then for some unknown reason there is a flat sheer cliff and it changes very drastically to swamp?  That's where the 1.1 map meets the 1.2 map (for example).  Even on the current map, once 1.3 is implemented any new map areas will feature 1.3 content.  Map chunks aren't "created" on the server until you actually step into them.  When they are created, it's with whatever server version you're running at the time.

Good Work Guys Hope everybody is grateful ^_^

Yes, there will be a command to enter the new world.
Also note, the people building only explored a small part of the map, so no need to wait for 1.3 as there will be loads of unexplored areas.
