Yes sorry, all the totals are per month. I think it's also worth mentioning that I live in Australia, and ServerCraft Servers are hosted in America. Not sure if that will have an effect on my connection.

General Discussion / What Hoster?

So i've had my SMP Server now since alpha, and I think its time I rent a Server Host. But I don't know which one to choose from. I have 3 websites here that I think are the best ones. Im looking for: 10 player slots (maybe 15), 1GB Memory (maybe 1.5)

Option 1: http://www.stipe.com.au/
10 player slots: $15
1GB Memory: $30
Location: Sydney
Total (AUD): $45 per month

Option 2: http://servercraft.co/
(Tier 5)
Unlimited slots (1-18 Suggested Players)
1200MB Memory
Location: somewhere in America
Total (AUD): $30 per month

Option 3: http://www.multiplaygameservers.com/game-servers/mc-minecraft/
10 player slots: (about) $10
1GB Memory: (about) $8
Location: Los Angeles - California US
+ Free Mumble (10 slots)
+ Some other costs
Total (AUD): (around) $13 per month

So what do you all think?

OMG can everyone please just kindly shut up about this. I'm sorry for trying to help people, if I knew you were all going to have a little fight over this I would have never posted. btw its not MY .jar file, I NEVER uploaded it for download. Heres the thing, how on Earth is Notch going to track down thousands of people that downgrade .jars by downloading them off the internet, simple...HES NOT. Lets say someone downloaded the 1.0.0 .jar from the internet, but they havnt bought the game, then how on earth are they going to download the Minecraft Client to use it? When you download Minecraft it doesnt only install the .jar file, it downloads a whole bunch of other files like: 'resources' 'saves' 'screenshots' 'stats' 'texturepacks' etc. So unless someone was clever enough to download ALL those files, and somehow donwload the client for Minecraft, we have nothing to worry about. I hope you are all smart enough not to keep posting on this topic, because i think this about sums it up.

Nice builds, I like them! I think I remember seeing the second building in its early stages, back when SMP just launched :P

General Discussion / Re: So when is server updating??
« on: December 02, 2011, 09:02:34 am »
Like Frodonk siad, they usually give us a week or 2 notice before releasing the new recommended build.
I think because they have been at Minecon, and because 1.0.0 is a huge step from Beta, that it wont be easy updating Bukkit.
I would say that it will take a few weeks until bukkit 1.0.0 is released.

Well that depends on where you want the Server Host to be. I might be doing the same since school holidays have started, but i'll be using an Australian Server Hoster.

EDIT: I did some looking around and it looks like I will be using ServerCraft. I'm going to
be using the Tier5 Plan, which has 1200MB, 1-18 recomended players for only $30 a month! Pretty good if you ask me ^^

Heres how to downgrade to 1.8
1. Download the 1.8 Minecraft.jar file here: [censored]
2. Click start and search: %appdata%
3. Double click the .minecraft file
4. Double click the bin folder
5. You should see a file called minecraft.jar (or just 'minecraft' if you have extensions hidden)
So copy and paste that file into a folder on your desktop (this will be the backup if you want to
ever go back to Minecraft 1.0.0)
6. Copy and paste the NEW Minecraft.jar file you downloaded in step 1 into the bin folder.
7. DONE! Just run Minecraft like usual and your good to go.
(To get the newest version on Minecraft back, just do the same steps, except use the backup minecraft.jar)
Hope this helped!
