Server News / Re: Proposed smp changes
« on: March 18, 2016, 11:01:00 pm »
-Sever world wipes: I disagree to a server wipe, but do agree with a fresh start. What I mean is that I like the idea of all the worlds being new and fresh, but I don't like the idea of the old worlds being wiped  (even if put up for download). What I would prefer are the old world's existing as an archive of sorts where players can still visit, but can not edit the world, while at the same time there being new worlds that are completely a fresh start to the new system.

-Economy Simplification: I'm not too sure on completely removing the economy system, but I do agree that simplification may be in order if we are to preserve the survival aspect of smp. For example, having only a few things on the market and raising the prices so that people aren't too reliant on the market. Though, I'm not sure about that either. What I would probably prefer would be a user based market where the players themselves set up stands at the market and sell things rather than the server. This would also make it truly an economy based on supply and demand as opposed to the anti-capitalist fixed market price we're currently slaves to. #MakeSurvivalGreatAgain

-PVP modes: Yup, pvp modes for sure so long as it is done properly.

-Player trading: I think the player trading idea might fall into what I said above.

-Point accumulation: Agree with this. Not much else to say.

-Player defined PS: Ditto.

Nice job. Good to see things going well for you, and good luck with future endeavors. Just don't let all this aviation stuff get in the way of winning those skin contests. lol

Just an note, I wouldn't waste keyboard clicks on suggestions for the SMP server or this website. Without optical there can be no progress on either. However the Classic team is always open for ideas.

Classic is still accessible? I tried logging into it a few months ago and it wouldn't let me join (even with xwom)

Nice. Should be fun.

Spambots pretty much. The forums were never a good indication of the server activity anyways lol

Well, besides the spambots. But maybe overall server activity isn't completely accurately shown through the forum as most people who've ever played probably never made an account. However, I believe it can be useful to see how many people who at least plan on possibly staying since they've bothered to make an account.

This is basically a follow-up to a post I did here back when we were debating over whether there should be creative and basically the overall well being of the server in terms of the number of people online and new members.

There I posted a graph of the number of new members that have joined the server per month since the beginning (at least in terms of number of people to register an account on the forum) arguing for the case that Opticraft is losing people and Creative could help. It's been about 8 months since I posted that, and about 7 months since we have had the Creative server.

So how are things coming along?

*Note: I couldn't fit the first 3 months of Opticraft onto the graph like I could with the last graph.
Red 1: Opticraft SMP is launched. 1/2012
Orange: Member world for SMP is released. 6/2012
Cyan 1: Melons/Pumpkins/Cacti removed from the market. 6/2012
Black 1: Mojang first removes Classic from the main page of Minecraft.net. Re-adds it, but harder to navigate to. 8/2012
Blue: Official YouTube channel launched. 9/2012
*One I should've mentioned was the New Guest World being released on 12/2012, which explains the spike.
Pink: PVP maps released. 7/2013
Black 2: Mojang kills Classic. Permanently removes Classic from the main page at Minecraft.net. 7/2013
Cyan 2: Gold/Iron ingots removed from the market. 9/2013
Red 2: Opticraft Creative is launched. 9/2014
*The dots also do not account for Minecraft updates that may have boosted popularity.

It looks like after the Creative server was released, it was somewhat a slow start. But then a huge spike of people happened in December and January. I have no idea what from or how, but it looks like the number sharply fell back down in February and March. Whatever it was though, it seems we couldn't hold the momentum up for long though. It seems when you exclude the 2 outlier months that we still have retained relatively low new member numbers each month, which is a bit disheartening.

What do you guys think of all this?

Rejected / Re: Crafter Application - dfroster
« on: January 08, 2015, 03:41:06 am »
Back on Classic, if you were trying to apply for Crafter and your builds (this is applying to buildings and architecture) didn't have an interior, then the admins probably wouldn't have even given you permission to apply. And this was in the days of only having 44 items (37 blocks, 5 plants, and water/lava) to work with and a height limit of little over 90 blocks high.

Now with what builders have now with Creative mode and huge worlds, it should really be no surprise what we're expecting. Especially for Crafter.

The WTC is given leeway since every floor would be pretty much the same thing.

Rejected. You need permission before applying.

We also feel that the builds still are not up to par with Crafter.

Food edition:

-When the Chef Boyardee is stuck in the can and refuses to come out.
-The two pieces of Ravioli that are always stuck together in the cans.
-That Campbells wants me to burn my mouth with a microwaving time of 2:45 for soup.
-When biting into a pizza and having all the cheese slide off to burn your chin.
-Making your bowl of cereal before realizing you have no milk.
-Sitting down at the table without your drink.
-The stickiness of having sugary drinks spilled on you.
-My Burger King in town is only generous enough to give only 1 slice of cheese to their Double Whoppers.
-McDonald's doesn't serve lunch all the time.
-McDonald's aren't 24 hours anymore (at least here).
-People who grab a lot of food at buffets only to not finish most of it, and it ends up being thrown away.
-Getting the cookie too soggy in the milk to where it breaks off and falls in the milk.
-Generic brands

You've not only spammed trees in the Guest2 world, but also did general griefing too. Your ban withstands.

The phrase "Oh, that's just how he/she is" when in response to me expressing my dislike for somebody.
It's such an obvious statement and doesn't discredit anything said. When I hear that phrase, it's like "Uh, ya, I know that's how he is. That's why I don't like him. Because that's how he is."
