It's  not that I am really worked-up about it, just saying what is happening to the server.
In a way it's not all bad, since there are almost no griefers to do any hard to anything, and all the builds are still perfectly safe.
Guess I'll just have to move with the times. Opticraft classic is moving into peaceful old age  8).

General Discussion / The Server's Future.... 6 months on
« on: February 11, 2013, 12:42:56 am »
Some of you may remember me as the guy who put up the post about opticraft's classic server's future back in august 2012.
After forgetting about all of this (and not having time to be here) for 6 months, I decided to come back, around a year after I first came to opticraft classic.

The place is desolate. For the 2 hours I was logged on for, only two other players logged on (one was automatically banned my antigrief). There was nobody but me online for 95% of the time.  :(

While looking back on my previous builds, they just seemed dead, static, unchanging and merely continuing in the server till the occasional hope of someone modifying them would come when that someone would log on.

This is not good. Opticraft classic seems to be already in a future of stretched timescales with practically nothing happening in it for hours, or even days.  :-\

Please give your thoughts on this, I really want to know your opinions on this whole thing. This problem is showing that opticraft classic need something to get it out of it's heat-death.

Rejected / Thermoflux22 Builder Application

Briefly describe all your creations:
The first build I have done is a group of six towers and a 3-leveled maze. I have called this complex the Opticraft Trade Center, or OTC for short. All the towers have between 20 and 24 floors, and the OTC1 (closest to the spawn zone) has the outer walls in a rainbow color.
My second build consists of four of the five platonic solids being built inside each other. The dodecahedron with pentagonal faces is on the outside, with yellow faces and purple edges. The isocahedron with triangular faces is inside the dodecahedron, with blue edges and orange sides. The cube (at a 45 degree angle) is inside this, with red sides and green edges. The the octahedron is the innermost, with pink sides and turquoise edges. There is some lava and water in the center of the whole build.
My final build is beside the second. It is mostly abstract, the walls made my having a circle at the bottom slowly having one of it's axes being shortened on the way up, turning into a line at the top. Ellipses are in-between. There are entrances in either side, with two lava-water tetrahedrons inside, separated by a central lava column and a wall of tnt-water. Not even I know exactly what it is meant for :P.

What worlds are the creations on:
The first build is left of spawn in Recruit52, the second and third build in Guest257. at the back-right of the world.

Names of players who helped contribute: MrMonkey91 helped in showing me generally how to get the polyhedrons done, which I learnt from how to get them done myself. Gavin1928374655 also helped in putting a bedrock block in the center of the second build, which enable me to do all the polyhedrons correctly. Thanks to both!

What is your current rank in Opticraft ?: Recruit.

Extra (Anything else you want to mention): The second build requires No Clip to get inside the polyhedrons, as there is no entrance designed in them (you need WOM to get in basically).

Do you agree with our terms ?: Yes.

General Discussion / The server's future...
« on: August 16, 2012, 11:00:53 pm »
After the concealment of the classic option on minecraft.net's website, the number and intensity of players coming onto the server is dropping with every passing day.

This is making me worried, as to me it looks like the server is already into it's long and slow death :-[.

Fewer people are going online now, there are like ten people online at a time, the chat line is emptier and there is generally less going on.

If it continues like this, in my opinion, a year down the line there might be only one person online at a time, with almost nothing going on (ops and admins rarely going online and mostly afk if they do) at all. Maybe people will think that they are the only person in the server!

This may sound mad and weird, but I think it is already happening, and it is making me go for Builder and no higher, as there is not much of a real point in furthering my existence on the server.

Please reply!

General Discussion / New Recruit World Required
« on: August 11, 2012, 03:36:25 pm »
I've been looking at the current recruit world and it is running out of space.
This is not good for me as I am waiting to start on my builder application build.

Can an operator or above please create a new one?
Thanks

General Discussion / Doing angles/polygons/polyhedrons
« on: August 11, 2012, 12:06:57 pm »
Does anyone know how I can make angled lines and structures, or some application that I can use easily to achieve that?

The reason is I am looking for ways to do certain polygons and polyhedrons for my builder application, so I can incorporate them into it ( the OTC is not derelict, I think there is nothing I can do about it to get builder rank).

Any help is great, I have been searching the web for days in trying to find ways to do this!

The build I have created is called the Opticraft Trade Center, or OTC for short. There are six towers and one maze included in the OTC. The towers are made of stone/glass blocks (for OTC1 & 2, the 'twin' towers) and grey wool/glass blocks for the other four towers. all the towers have water columns that serve as elevators, giving access to all the floors. The maze is made of white wool/glass blocks, with the exterior shell in a vertical stripe pattern like the towers. The maze itself has three floors, each one with glass walls. OTC1 and 2 have 24 floors. OTC3 has 21 floors. OTC4 has 23 floors. OTC5 has 21 floors. OTC6 has 20 floors.

The Opticraft trade Center is situated in Recruit52, just left of the spawn zone. There is a dark-grey-wool wall which has the OTC inside.

This is an album of five images, which give different perspective views over the OTC.
The first image has the OTC6 at front-left and the OTC4 at front-right. The spawn zone is at the far right.
The second image has the OTC3 at front-left, with the maze in the center of the image.
The OTC5 is at the front-right of the third image, with the twin towers OTC1 & 2 at front-left.
The fourth image gives an approximate view of the OTC from the spawn zone, albeit higher up.
The fifth and final image is of the entire OTC as viewed from over the cloud-line, looking leftwards in relation to spawn.

The operators Kodak28, ZeroZero1Nine, Gavin1928374655, xeadin and 5OO helped me to copy/paste the OTC1 and 2 from recruit51, add cuboid sections and delete block sections and to advise me on my progress. The recruit Whitetiger234 helped me with re-doing the upper floors of OTC1 and 2 while they were in their early stages, in recruit51.
I give special thanks to those people personally for their contribution, and I apologize in advance to anyone that I might have forgotten to mention.

I am currently a recruit.

NOTE: The former OTC1 and 2 towers in recruit51 are now under the ownership of another recruit, who I gave full permission to change for his own use.
Originally the OTC1,2 and 3 were built in Member32, but they were copied/pasted into Recruit51 with the help of operators as they were in need of more space for extension. Those originals still stand in Member32, with their abbreviated names put on them in lava.

I agree fully to the terms of the opticraft.net website and the rules of the classic Opticraft Dev Server.
