Why you should become a moderator: I always look at both sides of the story. I am a very fair person. In real life, and in game, I put others before myself. With the summer rolling in soon, Opticraft should see the general surge of players rolling in, and with that some people who don't deserve the privilege to play here. As a moderator, I would judge every incident fairly and with extreme patience.

Thank you for your time.

General Discussion / $20 donation givaway
« on: January 19, 2014, 09:51:27 pm »
Opticraft needs people. Donating won't help. Or will it?

I shall be giving $20 in donations away to whoever recruits the most new people to Opticraft (as of the moment this was posted). You need a screenshot ingame of them saying "______ showed me Opticraft" or something. Also, you need to add a link to their forum profile so I can see their join date (date needs to be after this topic was posted). I will decide the winner on February 10th, 2014.

Good luck!!

General Discussion / Time Well Wasted.
« on: October 17, 2013, 11:17:19 am »
Time well wasted. That is how I view my time here on Opticraft.
this is a leaving post. Moderators, I understand if you MUST lock this, but please do not, if you do not have to.
Also, in this post I may offend you, or someone else. I will bring up the name of others. I will not say, "and a player did that, yoo hoo." I may mention the name of another server, but not in an advertising kind of way. I will use language in this post, but I will try not to excessively cuss. Viewer discretion is advised.

15 days, 8 hours and 14 minutes of forum online time. 1307 total posts. 168 topics and 4 polls created. 30 votes cast. 82 recieved messages. This is enough to allow me to achieve champion member, a forum rank equal in weight with Nick3306, the user with the most total amount of posts, by a longshot. If I were a hammer, and Opticraft were a wall, I would have left a decently sized chink in the bricks of this server. So I will start off this goodbye post with all of the wrong I feel needs to be made right.
By simply becoming a member was the first thing I lied about. Checking the button to prove I am 13 years of age, and the button to prove I read the terms and conditions. Both of those were lies. I have lived with these lies for close to a year and a half now. I still, to this day, have not read the terms and conditions. When I signed up for this forum, I was 12 years of age. Every single moderator application I posted, I lied about. I am 13 now, turning 14 next May. I held my age a year ahead of myself, because in real life, people see my height, hear my voice see and my straight posture and automatically assume I am 16-17. Hell, when I wend on Mumble, everyone thought I was using a voice changer, and that I sounded like my voice was lower than their 17 year old brother. I had assumed people would just pass right over that, and they did. Also, when I got banned. It was on my older account, goalieguy60. I was banned by a temporary mod, leganie. Numerous people had complained that my home was a deathtrap, and it was. I made it, saying, "come to my /home to be tricked." People came, and they were tricked. I thought this was legitimate, and only looking back at it now, over a year later, did I realize how immature I was. After my unsuccessful appeal, I forgot about Opticraft. A few months later, I came back. I made an appeal, and it was just about the definition of the word, "noob." I touched on the fact that I would do community service if needed, and that I had just started to become successful. I was surprised that awesomealicia unbanned me. Later yet, I was surprised she promoted me to trusted. That is for later in this post. Now, I will talk about the other wrong things I have done. A while back, over the course of a month, I became very good friends with someone. I was astonished by how rich they were item-wise, tons of diamonds and gold and iron. One day, they hurriedly came up to me, and said that they had to go, they had xrayed this server out, staff might find them soon, etc. They allowed me in their house before I knew what was going on. Then they just logged off. I looked around the chests, and picked what I wanted. I kept the items, and never told anyone about it. Until now. Later, I joined a server, the name was [server name removed]. Never go on. It will change you for the worse. The admin is a selfish, idiotic buffoon. He will do anything in his power to get the players to donate as much as possible, no matter what the cost. He was down to earth with just about nothing. He would never ban anyone for hacking, and things got extreme. Not only were some people openly talking about which hack clients they used, they were talking about the new booter they just bought to DDoS other people. A few of them went to court for hacking. Anyway, I caught on to that drift. I downloaded Nodus. Too lazy to switch my .jar files every time I went to go on Opticraft, I kept Nodus on. All I used it for was fullbright, but still, that was enough. At one point, I was so tempted to use Xray that I did, but what I was Xraying towards was outside the world border. After time, that phase of me went away, and for the past 8 months I have played legit. At one point on Opticraft, I greifed too. Nathanaelm11 was his name. I had started clearing out a desert, not a problem. Halfway done, while I was offline, he had logged on, walked all the way from the memberworld spawn to almost the world border (where I was) and built a small house. The next day I logged on and saw it, I was pissed. He had built it right where I was building. I waited for him to log on, waited a month. He never came back. After a month, I tore his house down because he was inactive, and he never logged back on. That is just about it for all of the wrong I have committed, and the only feelings I have now for it are shame, guilt, and the feeling of cowardice. Shame because, I regret my actions. Guilt because, I regret not telling anyone about it. And cowardice because, I feel like a coward for only telling about this now, while I am leaving.

Now, I will talk about my reasons for leaving. It is not primarily any one of your faults. More, the minecraft community as a whole. If you go on any voting sites, you won't find a single top server that is economy, PvP, raiding, PvE, just plain survival. Only minigames. Those giant networks of 20 $200 a month beasts with 4,000 people on at one time. This shoves Opticraft, and all of the other servers down the list. Another reason is voting. That little glitch where you can just hit the voting button, instead of filling out the captcha. At one point, I almost cryed. My friend came over, smhsmh123123. He didn't care for Opticraft. I tried to stop him, but he just ran around griefing. To get to somebodies house, he had to vote. I nearly teared up when I saw him do the actual vote site captcha instead of the glitch. So in a way, even though he hurt Opticraft by griefing, he was one of few who actually voted. Another reason is the maturity level in general. I'll admit, I probably shouldn't talk about this. When I first got trusted, I was way down. Then, when DaleJr came, my level saw how low his was and boosted mine up. Then, when gogar and afro came, I realized that what they were doing was very immature (I know Afro is 10, he has every right to be immature). This made me more mature. But now, seeing Opticraft as a whole, I feel, wow, they look really silly doing that. The last final reason is what kicked me over the edge. I remember the first time I logged on. Chat was the first thing I noticed. It was moving so quickly I could barely read it. The castle in the old spawn had at least 15 people in it. A few days ago, I logged on for the last time. There were 6 people, total. Chat was nonexistent, except for the small drone of the server broadcasts. I remember a time were if there were 6 people on, all 6 would be rioting. My first screenshot is of a time when there were 10 people online, and that was a crazy low amount for me.

I'm going to talk about people, and times, that changed me. Let's start off with Optical. Basically, none of this would be possible without you. The first people to really influence me was at my clubhouse. I had just gotten unbanned. I decided to advertise my clubhouse in chat, and taros10, spyow7, radlam, therealfamous, and boshiwarrior came. I remember exactly what happened, and we had a blast. That may have been my most fun time on Opticraft. In fact, that is where I logged out with both RuthlessTomato and goalieguy60 for the last time. I am going to bring up all of the staff I want to thank. http://www.opticraft.net/index.php/topic,16905.0.html that's all of 'em. Every single one, I want to thank. I want to thank SalsaInABowl, you are awesome man. Stay that way. I feel the last thing I did for Opticraft was my event, Bakk Two Skool. I'm satisfied with that. I had always been trying to make an event with large amounts of people, and it finally happened there. Thanks, all that showed up.

I am somewhat sad I never made it to the list I posted earlier in this post. Even though I lied about my age, I am mature when I need to be. I feel age is too much of a restraint. Being a moderator probably would have helped me stay. I only lied about my age because that is the age I could act. I hope that if you have any problems with me leaving, just send me a PM, and I might reconsider. As I finally say goodbye for the last time, I just want to say, I hope you waste time well.

Offtopic / New minigame Idea!
« on: September 17, 2013, 11:00:46 pm »
Well, hello. I have come up with an idea for a minigame similar to Survival Games or Hide N Seek, and I wanted to show you people. I posted this on the MineCraft Forum, and I will qoute it:

Quote
Hello, everyone! I have a great new idea for a minigame/gamemode similar to the Hunger Games or Hide N Seek/prop hunt! So here's how it goes.

50-100 players spawn in a preset map, in a circle.

The timer counts down, and players can leave their spawnpoint.

The players have 30-60 seconds of invicibility, to gather resources put in certain sections of the map.

After this time, players are given a compass with a name of another player in the arena. The compass points at the player they are given the name of. The players are randomly paired, with every 2 people randomly paired with each other. If there is an odd number of players, one player is given a free period.

The players pointed at one another have to kill each other. At this point, materials can still be gathered, but players must be careful because their opponent could find and kill them.

Once one player kills another, they are put on a free period to gather materials until another player becomes free, in which at this time the two players are now paired with one another.

Players can hit and kill other players that they are not paired with, but with deadly consequences. If they deliver the killing hit, both players will die. This will cause mass hysteria. Imagine 50 PvP battles going on all around you, and you have to find a single person and kill them, while making sure they don't surprise you.

If, after 10-30 minutes, a player fails to locate and kill his target, both players in the pair will die. This clock resets every time they get a new target.

Team technically could be possible, but would be dangerous. A group of people could go after a single player that is one of their targets, but they would need to make sure that they do not get the final kill, or else they would die.

Thank you for reading this, and if you have any ideas or questions, feel free to comment below.

Offtopic / Your $15 for my $15-20
« on: September 12, 2013, 09:43:34 pm »
Hello, everyone. I need this for YouTube Introductions and animations I am making. As you can see, it is $15. The problem is, my PrePaid card won't work with it, I am not entirely sure why. However, my card does work with steam. I still have $20 left on the card, so if anyone were to buy that for me, I could gift them a game or points or something on Steam for up to $20. So please reply to this if you can help. Thanks!

Forum Games / count to 30 (with a twist version 3)
« on: August 28, 2013, 12:48:36 am »
Version 2: click
Well, if any of you remember version one or two, here's how you play.
You have to count to 30, and if an SMP staff posts, the normal members restart.
Here's an example:
Person one: 1
Person two: 2
Person three (staff member): haha, nope.
Person four: 1.

The players win if they count alll of the way to 30.
The staff win if we get to 50 pages of this game.
Remember, SMP STAFF ONLY. NO CLASSIC OPS.

You cannt post unless there are three others between your last start.
I will start.

So, we all know creepers can't do a thing to blocks (that could be used to grief). But how about in the nether? Ghasts launch fireballs that and destroy blocks and light blocks on fire. Is it possible to dissable ghast fireball damage?

Fourth Moderator application: click here

This would now be my fifth Moderator application, so here goes.

Age:14

Location: New Jersey

Timezone: GMT -5

Join Date: May 18, 2012

Were you recommended by anyone?: No.

Why you should become a moderator: First off, I would like to point out my dedication to this server. I have been signed up on our website for over a year now. I was trusted when some of the current mods were guests. I also have done countless projects on our SMP server. I am active on the forums and in-game. I can prove my active-ness (is that a word?) with that number to the left. Currently 1220. That is champion member level. Out of about 30,000 members, I have the 17th most posts. This can prove activeness and commitment to the forums as well as ingame. I have been trusted for about a year now as well..

I am a very honest player. I don’t lie, I don’t steal, and I look at both sides of an argument without a bias. I can see right through any lies. I am generally kind, but can become strict when necessary. Players can (and have) come to me looking for real life advice and to settle an argument.
Opticraft is a community, is it not? I, and the admins think so. In my mind, a community is where each person plays a small role, which leads up to a large, functional, community. I feel my role in the community is to moderate. I love the feeling of being helpful to other people. That is what I treasure most about Minecraft. Helping others, I help myself become a better person.

I am not the only one I know on Opticraft. I have gotten Hockeymanseven, Sodasam, smhsmh123123, Jbs314, nathanialjones and a few others to join Opticraft.

I have been moderator before on other servers, I have moderated the community like I would here if I make it. I know when to be strict or kind. I know the dos and don’ts of being a moderator. I also know how to  deal with nice players, mean players, when to give a warning/second chance, or how severe the punishment should be.

I take control. In real life, or in game, I am the one who takes a leadership roll, keeping everyone organized and under control. This trait would make me an excellent moderator.

I know I live in New Jersey, so you may think, “Oh we don’t need him, and we already have enough moderators in his time zone.” I can come on the normal times of a player in my time zone, but early in the morning, while others are asleep, I can log on as well. Along with this, while most players are asleep I am on the forums later at night. Often I come on when the majority of players are European or come from Australia/ New Zealand.

I am going to summarize my entire application here:

•   This is my fifth application.

•   I am a very long time player.

•   I am extremely active on the forums.

•   I am an honest and un-biased player.

•   The role in our community I would help most in is being a moderator.

•   I have gotten many others to play on this server.

•   Previous moderating experience.

*      I take leadership rolls.

•   I can make many time zones.

Thank you for taking the time to read my entire application.

General Discussion / skins for my dance
« on: August 10, 2013, 02:55:33 pm »
It would be really lame if everyone on the server downloaded the same premade skin for my dance, so if anyone requests below i will make a skin for them that mixes their current skin and my dance theme.

PICTURES!

(click to show/hide)

Welcome to the Bakk two skool (back to school) dance. as many of you know, school is starting soon, and what better way to end the summer on Opticraft than to get to the core, our community, with a giant party? The them for this event shall be a classroom theme (possibly with a giant surprise) And so I need your help. Dress in the geeky-est and nerdy-est clothing you have (overalls, polo shirt with shirt tucked in too high, giant glasses, etc.).

Where is it?
This dance will be held at /home RuthlessTomato

When will it be?
This dance will be held on August 24th, 6:15 PM (18:15) GMT -5

What should I wear?/What should i make my skin?
This is a class room, so remember dress like a giant nerd, and make it good. *cough* and possibly *cough* a skin comp *cough*
What's going to be so good about this party?

Food, DJ, Skin competitions, Dancing, Couples, Themes, drop party, surprises

How can I help?

I doubt you were asking, but I'm going to ask for you. Yes, you can help. I need your help to build this, I need materials, I need DJ's and possibly a waiter.

Will there be surprises or prizes?

Yes, there will. Surprise item drops, slow dances, camera crew, cutest couples, best skins, and much, much more.

Do we show up alone?

I would ask if you could bring a date. If you aren't feeling like bringing a date (even just a friend) sure, of course you can come by yourself.

Let's have some fun! Come, or have no fun!

If you have any more questions, message me ingame, on the forums or post a comment \/ BELOW

Were you recommended by anyone?: both mods that recommended me arent smp staff anymore.(feel free to edit yourself in)
Why you should become a moderator: well, summer is rolling in and so are the players. I presume that's why the mod apps opened. And, we wont just get more players, but new ones who are most likely too lazy to read the rules. I should become a moderator because I can greatly help control the players, and enforce the rules.

I can be kind or strict, and I also know when to be which. I understand some players deserve a second chance, but i can tell if a players story is phony or not. I can be a great help to existing moderators and take work off their back. I have moderated a friends server for a year and a half, and so i have a lot of experience dealing with new players.

Offtopic / PS4 or XBox One?
« on: June 14, 2013, 12:04:18 am »
Well, in just a few months the next gen consoles will come out, and people have mixed opinions. As far as I know, the Xbox is $500 and the ps4 is $400. The xbox comes with the kinect, but you need to use it. The gaming world is currently xbox, but sides might sawy from microsoft to sony. I also believe live will cost on the xbox, but will be free on the playstation
