are the spawn rates on the peacefuls very low because i have to wander very far from any buildings to find anything like chickens, pigs and cows.

So im new to the server and recently brought a  protection stone and was wondering if the glass i see when using the visualize command is the area that is protected or do i have to type in certain commands to protect my stuff?
