I love classic, but the graphics suck, and the block choices are extremely limited. I'm not the only one who feels this way, and yet there are practically zero creative-mode servers. I aim to solve this. My goal is to configure a full-version Minecraft server package that plays *exactly* like our classic creative server. If I'm successful, I would love for it to be an Opticraft server.

Project details:

Template flatgrass maps similar to classic maps. Terrain generation will be disabled. Nether disabled. Time of day fixed. Day maps, evening maps, night maps. As maps fill up, new maps will be loaded from the templates. Physics and redstone will be disabled on Guest/Member/Recruit to conserve server resources. Builder worlds will have physics enabled. Crafter worlds will have Redstone. A preconfigured Zombe mod file will be available for players accustomed to WoM controls.

Or perhaps add a random-location portal to the standard spawn area?

How about a small script to initially set new player's /home data to a random location on the map? I think this would avoid the ground-zero effect that happens around fixed starting areas, and also eliminate the need to go on a half hour trek to find a clean place to build.

I actually thought GTA IV was a vast improvement on the series. The refined combat mechanics made the game playable, unlike the previous ones that seemed unbeatable without health/armor/weapons cheats.

Well, without the zones to put the projects in, this project will be kinda lame. Still no word on whether or not those zones will be made.

I love one of the comments "Fake or Asian???"

I really liked the temple but you need more than just one smallish build to earn this rank. Go overkill and make 3+ ridiculous things.

So as long as I don't leave it for a week without improving, I can outline my project?

So long as your build is actually started before you log off.

Also when you post screenshots, use the direct link in the IMG tag, not the thumbnail/preview link.

When I was member/recruit/builder I would always section out the area I intended to build in with a 1x high rectangle. It's very helpful, especially when finding axis of symmetry and measuring relative distances. But I would never just do an outline and leave it.

So, if you've got time to build a 100x100 outline then you've got time to start your building too. If not, then you should probably wait until you do have time to start building.

New recruits need to be informed of this policy. Many are making massive outlines thinking it's completely kosher.

We should also impress upon them that it's better to have a smaller, detailed build, than a massive, zero detail monolith.

Well, Admins are probably the players with the most skill. But I think that Crafters should build in spawn too because they have a talent that most people don't.

Admins don't necessarily excel in building in any special way.

Challenge accepted.

Good, we need more high-level building going on :D

Then what am I? I can't be 4# as I don't really love building, nor 3# as I wouldn't say I like to build, I build occasionally... (Say once every 2/3 weeks, and my projects don't really ever get completed (Unless its a joint project, in which case I am much more motivated, as I don't want to let other person down)). Other then that, am I a griefer, or a random clicker?

Ops don't really 'play' Minecraft, we're more like baby sitters.
