Title: Spawn On pressure plates disabled, workaround?

Ok, so most of you know that in SMP pressure plate spawn is disabled.
So, would we simply have to use a piston design that uses a timer instead of plates?
If you know any better ways let me know

I had my home set on a pressure plate and it worked flawlessly.
Was it not supposed to?
