Title: You know what really grinds my gears?
Post by: iGenerator on April 01, 2014, 02:05:40 am
People who say "A" for effort, ya know the word that doesn't have a single A in it.

True grading system

F for effort, because you can't spell
D didn't fail
C close to average
B but you could have done better
A awesome, everyone is so proud of you

I hope you can all spout off your passive-aggressive comments in the form of a forum game with me

People who say "A" for effort, ya know the word that doesn't have a single A in it.

They say A for effort as in A for participation or an A in math, your effort was deserving of the grade A.

But back to the topic, people who walk incredibly slowly in groups that take up the whole aisle, sidewalk, lane etc.

People say c is happy but it isn't because a c is average

Drake fanboys. Everyone talks about his amazing (not) songs nonstop and all he even raps about is how good he is at rapping. And how famous he is.

People who still defend Justin Bieber. Face it, something you loved sucks now and in this case has become a major asshole.

Microsoft. For screwing up my last days with my 360 and screwing up the X1. Also, Xbox One is a stupid name because now we can't tell which Xbox we're talking about.

Apple fanboys. Face it, macs suck. Yes I know I was one myself a long time ago but fortunately I was enlightened.

Cod fanboys. If you get excited over having a dog in the campaign your game has seriously run out of ideas and has decided to take ideas from other games and make them worse (Ghost Recon).

Since I'm a man of (some form of) logic, I naturally get *very* ticked off when people contradict themselves and expect you to go along with whatever they are stating, e.g.
"If it were opposite day, *blah* would happen instead of *blah*!" (Note: opposite day will never exist, as if it were to exist it's own existence would destroy itself, because the opposite of opposite day is NOT opposite day)

The following is also (but not limited to) what I am enraged by:
- cheap imitations (MINEBLOKS instead of MineCraft, do something useful and original mate!)
- Searching for a famous youtuber's channel/playlist, and then getting spammed by other youtubers who copied the famous youtuber's channel/playlist (you may think you're going to get more likes that way, but what you are actually going to get is a lot of annoyed looks)
- and yr 9 logic/discussions/acts in general (what I believe are the biggest source illiterate conversations, badmouthing, and pranks no one with maturity laughs at), e.g. "why yu don dat?", "@%$!" every 3 seconds, "did you hear about that teacher who ACTUALLY makes us work?", and general trolling (in reality and in games)

Speaking of which, gonna try my hand at this dating shit tomorrow, I'll let you know how well it goes on a scale of Flop-So-Hard-Miami-Heat-Jealous to Johnny Bravo

In gym, a select few of the boys in my class go completely overboard. They're always ramming into other people to get the ball and trying their best to be assholes. Whenever someone makes some awesome pass, goal, touchdown, or basket no matter what we're playing, they yell out "tryhard" and stuff along the lines of "What a tryhard! He thinks he's good at sports." I'm thinking to myself, "Are you f*cking kidding me? We're the tryhards?" It's funny seeing them do this though.

I think I missed something important back in my other post...

TESTS!

1. You always have to assume the "person" you are explaining your answer to is an absolute idiot, so you have to explain everything that the person should already know, e.g. having to repeat the same sentence/paragraph every time you have to answer a question.
2. Graphs, make one mistake using a pen and you've just wasted precious time
3. The fact I mysteriously make a fatal error during a test, when every other day I can answer the same question just fine
4. Unreadable questions, questions that mean one thing but say the other

I also have a feeling that some of this doesn't just apply to me...

Laptops that break down easily...

Laptops. I just don't have a use for such portability, so it's actually just me getting less performance out of my computer for no reason. Plus this shit is heavy anyways, aren't laptops supposed to be as light as possible?

Also, MacBooks. And just about anything made by Apple that isn't an iPhone.
iPhones on the other hand, are kinda the shit.
Also, people who fight over AT&T vs. Verizon. Dude, nobody cares.
Also, people who fight over iPhone vs. Android phones. It's just a preference.
Also, console wars that isn't XB1 vs. PS4. I'm gonna be honest here this is the one console generation where I legitimately believe one console is just a piece of absolute crap. XB1 in this case. But XB360 was amazing while I still had Live, loved it and PS3 is pretty good too. The 360 had a more comfortable controller, but PS3 had a much better D-Pad. But they both didn't suck. I loved and enjoy(ed) them both. I could say I enjoyed Xbox more and actually nobody cares I went off on a rant for no reason bye.

Okay, my first time responding to this one....

- People who use "there" "their" and "they're" wrong. To clarify "there" is speaking of locations, I.e. "Go over there to that line up please." Next "their" refers to a persons belongings. "Don't use their coffee machine without asking." And last, "they're" is referring to a persons actions, and is a short form term for "they are." For example "They're going to the mall."

- Spongebob Square pants... dumbest thing ever.

- People who get uppity about things that are none of their business.

- I despise when people in public try to tell me how to parent my child. Until you retain legal guardianship, kiss my.....

- Stepping on little toys, hurts the feet!!!!

- People who are blatantly seeking attention, very annoying.

- People who share things I make a point of telling them in a non-public forum. If its in a private message of any sort, then keep it between us unless I say otherwise.

- People who think they know everything. I came to the realization at a very young age that I was never going to have ALL the answers, and I find it makes me less snooty to know this.

- How creativity is a nearly-useless skill in today's world unless someone famous sees it.

- Adult responsibilities.

- Life.

There's more, but I think this gives you an idea.

Acknowledging a compliment.

I'll explain this one.

Something people always say is that I'm incredibly smart, but if I agree to it I sound cocky and no.
I hate it when people are cocky but I don't want to sound appreciative so I just say "okay" or something because I don't know, saying thanks almost sounds kind of cocky.
Which I hate.
This is getting repetitive.

Try not to over think it, there's actually 2 words you can use which works most of the time for compliments, and it's a simple "thank you". You're not saying "yes I am smart" and you're not saying "no I'm not smart", you're sitting right in the middle.

I hate when people try to convey emotion over the internet and use some phrases like "lmao" "lmfao" "lol" "LOL".  I know I am as guilty of using the latter, but it still pisses me off.  I got reminded of my hatred for this because people in my school have started SAYING LOL IN DAY TO DAY CONVERSATIONS.  DO YOU NOT REALIZE YOU COULD JUST LAUGH YOU FOOL.  </rant>

Also people being phony pisses me off.  I see a lot of people trying to be cool (internet, real life, etc.) by copying the newest buzz words, trendlines, opinions, and so on.  Apparently the cool thing now is to wear really dumb hats.

Which brings me to another gear grinding thingy. Snapbacks. They are purely for today's swagfashion and they look ugly as shit. People could have literally identical hats other than one being a snapback and the other being a fitted hat and they will say the fitted one is ugly.

It's such an obvious statement and doesn't discredit anything said. When I hear that phrase, it's like "Uh, ya, I know that's how he is. That's why I don't like him. Because that's how he is."

When you don't do your homework ONE TIME and then all of a sudden in a group project you are "unreliable and irresponsible" when that same group has made you do a small poster project and a lab report all in one night because of their own failure to contribute.

Also, 2 Chainz.

When people write their eighth-grade graduation speeches all about how they're "moving on into the real world to apply all that they've learned." Yes, I know that some of them will not go to or finish secondary school, but most of them do.

1. You still live with your parents.
2. You're just going to high school. You're not moving to Boston and becoming a chief executive of some macro-monopolistic corporation. You'll probably have to write the same speech again in four years.

When people confuse their homophones and homographs. Not only messing up when they use such words (homophones: e.g. carrot, caret, carat [also karat]; homographs: e.g. bow, sow, hail), but also confusing the terms "homophone," "homograph," and "homonym."

When someone pronounces a word so poorly that you're almost certain he/she spelled it wrong in his/her head.

The fact that so many of the replies to this topic (including mine) consist mainly or entirely of dependent clauses.

Eating at Long John Silver's and finishing my drink half an hour before we get our food.

The fear that I may be replying inappropriately to a topic. On that note:

the possibility that people are going to be really confused in the 3000s when we talk about 9/11 because we forgot to put the /01 after 9/11

I don't believe you thought that one through far enough. In the 3000s, there will (theoretically) be a 3001, which may be abbreviated to 01. Therefore, simply adding "/01" would do no good if you want to specify the millennium of the date.
Try "/2001". You can add an "A. D." before it if you would like, and perhaps write it in other calendar formats. (That's just there in case someone wants to get all "Well, in that case..." on me, though I now fear that I have forgotten something...)

On that note: The fear that I will be harshly reprimanded and consequently shunned if I do stray too far from the topic.

On that note, perhaps people will be confused in the year 3000 because they no longer rely on a monotheistic 3000 year old death cult and a book to guide themselves. Then the whole christian calender will look confusing. Either way, worse things have happened, do happen and will happen so I'm sure they won't think about it too much.

Food edition:

-When the Chef Boyardee is stuck in the can and refuses to come out.
-The two pieces of Ravioli that are always stuck together in the cans.
-That Campbells wants me to burn my mouth with a microwaving time of 2:45 for soup.
-When biting into a pizza and having all the cheese slide off to burn your chin.
-Making your bowl of cereal before realizing you have no milk.
-Sitting down at the table without your drink.
-The stickiness of having sugary drinks spilled on you.
-My Burger King in town is only generous enough to give only 1 slice of cheese to their Double Whoppers.
-McDonald's doesn't serve lunch all the time.
-McDonald's aren't 24 hours anymore (at least here).
-People who grab a lot of food at buffets only to not finish most of it, and it ends up being thrown away.
-Getting the cookie too soggy in the milk to where it breaks off and falls in the milk.
-Generic brands

EA

EA's servers

Seriously I was on Division 3 of Online Seasons and I won a match to barely promote to division 2 on the last game and for some reason, right as the game ends (but before it saves) the frickin thing crashes and I get sent back to division 3!

As bullshit as that was, I opened a gold pack and got a Team of the Week player out of it immediately afterward so that was cool, kinda forgave EA after that

Worrying that a thread I like will become inactive to the point that it takes a necropost to revive it.

Autocorrect changing `hashtags' to `has tags' and `necropost' to `necropsy'.

Not being able to type for crap without autocorrect, made worse by the fact that I know how to spell everything I want to write...

When you load a webpage, quickly go to click on something because you know where it is, but right before you click some other part of the page loads and pushes the part you wanted to click on down and puts some other clickable thing in place of it. and repeat.

The aspect that my life is falling apart, and the first place I go to tell you Opti-people is in a topic about irate things.

Having so much to say but saying nothing for the sake of hearing the other person's argument
Having a good time before a tragedy
Being frustrated because I didn't get satisfactory grades even though I didn't try

Missing people that I don't even know (you guys)
How summer break is already gone
How high school is already almost gone
How I have no direction in life
How I'm using too many "How"s………………

HowThat I found enjoyment in reading the entire thread, only to remember my recent loss…………
