Title: How to use/get IRC on your phone. [AndroIRC]

This tutorial is here to show you how to properly and easily login to the Opticraft SMP and Opticraft Classic IRC chat rooms.
Note: This tutorial was done on a Samsung Galaxy S2, your phone may not be compatible with AndroIRC and it's features.

Getting AndroIRC

Step 1: Download and open AndroIRC
AndroIRC Website (http://www.androirc.com)
a. On the Android Market/Google Play Store look up "Androirc", there will be 2 versions; free and premium. Free works fine, thats what I use. Premium doesn't have ads and costs $2.90 USD.

b. Open AndroIRC.


Step 2: Setup connection to rizon
a. Press the menu button on your phone and go to More>Options>Servers
a1. Press the menu button on your phone and press "add server"

b. Add/Edit Server Information

Name - Rizon (Shouldn't matter what you call it)
Address - irc.rizon.us
Port - 6667
Password - N/A
Nickname - *Insert your IGN/Online Handle*
Alternative - *Insert your IGN/Online Handle (in case your primary nickname is taken)
Indent - ??? (I left blank)
Charset - UTF-8
Secured Connection - Unchecked
Use SSL certificate - Unchecked
SSL certificate filename - N/A
Auto-Connect - Checked (If you open AndroIRC, you will be automatically connected to Rizon)
Auto-Join Channels - Checked
HL List - *Insert other nicknames you may go by* (for me I put "Moses" and "Holy")


The rest of the Server info isn't required, but is recommended to secure your account if you haven't already.

Pretty Important for logging into IRC quickly!!
Custom IRC commands - *here you can insert known IRC commands*
(They will be automatically sent out when connection is made)
There are 2 major commands that really help you log in quickly

1. /msg NickServ identify *Password*
2. /join #opticraft-smp and/or /join #opticraft

c. Pressing the back button on your phone should automatically save the server information

Step 3: Testing and Use
a. Return back to the menu screen

b. press the menu button on your phone and select "connect"
b1. Connect to "Rizon" (or whatever you named it in the setup)

c. If you have auto-connect and auto-join checked from the setup, you should be immediately connected to either the SMP or Classic server IRC channels.

Not much more to say. Simply follow server rules, just because you are not in-game does not mean you are exempt from following the rules of Opticraft. You can still get kicked, banned, and muted via a moderator in-game and on IRC

PM/IMing players via IRC

a. When you're in the #opticraft-smp or #opticraft chat rooms press the menu button on your phone, select "Users"
a1. A sidebar should pop-up holding all the connected players along with their appropriate rank.

b. Tap or select the user whom you wish to IM in a separate chat room, a couple bubbles should pop up saying "PV" and "Menu"
b1. Select "PV", a new IRC Chat room window should appear in which only you and the person you are trying to contact will be in :D


Leaving Rooms
a. In order to leave a room, simply long-press on the room's name on the top of the screen, the room should close out.

Opticraft IRC Server Names
Classic : #opticraft
SMP : #opticraft-smp

Any idea how muh data it uses? Very little I'd assume

Not sure, I have an unlimited data plan. Obviously depends on how often you use it.

Androirc has bad garbage collection, it starts to lag after 5+ hours.

AndChat has higher performance but a bad, not-so-Holo theme.

I've tried andchat. I couldnt seem to configure it correctly and I had alot of crashing problems with it. So I prefer to stick with androirc.

I only get bad lag directly after OptiBots leave during server restarts, after a couple minutes it tends to fix itself
