Yes, you read the title right, a new guest world has been in the making for quite some time. I can officially announce that it is 95% done! We have just a few more things to build/move around then we will be ready to hand it over to optical so he can do whatever magic he does to port it over to the current server.
Opticraft User: "well what about all of our stuff on the current guest world? Will we lose it?"
Fear not my fellow opticrafter, the current guest world will still be accessible after the new guest world is put into place.
I am not going to give out any details on what the new spawn will be before it is launched but lets just say it is absolutely amazing.
After a talk with optical a few months back I was under the impression that he wanted to remove the current guest world after a period of time. I seemed to have misunderstood him and there are no plans to ever delete the current guest world.

Good thing I already moved all my stuff when the member world came out.
And I can't beleive the perfect timing between the suggestions post and this.....
Sometimes I think optical and the admins are setting everything up just so they can troll us.
EDIT: also if the Geist world will be delete can you put a download, I know the file will be huge but ill be able to play on the Geust world after I wait a day for it to download

Eventually the old guest world will be deleted. But we have not even though about a date when that would happen. Immediate relocation is not necessary because we are talking about months from the new guest worlds launch.

Please tell me we will able to transfer our main builds before the transition, because a lot of us would just give up on remaking their home the way it is if they're still stationed in the current one…

lol you're over reacting... they've clearly stated it's in no way happening any time relatively soon.
and honestly it shouldn't come as any surprise that the world would get reset eventually (again not relatively soon)
a lesser server would've /failed and corrupted the map by now.
be grateful it's lasted this long thanks to the diligent upkeep.
and for the record i have plenty of things that i'll lose when the world goes bye bye but i don't expect them to host an old guest world forever so i accept that i have to move those things or lose them....

Generally people think that when somebody says months they mean 11 months or less. Now if it was over 11 months why not say years?
BTW the idea of the current guest world going away is what we're upset about. I've been on here for 8 months and most of it was spent in the guest world.

Surely you must agree that the guest world looks like crap. The area around the spawn and warp points is completely trashed and the world is almost half water. The current map will still be available for a long time. But all things must come to an end.

Well...seems like all this that i spent living on guest world in an abandoned house once created by Tobs (i think)....has finally come to an end. I will miss the crazy signs that griefers left around my house (most of which i kept because they still make me laugh). I'll miss the basement griefers made for me under my home (did not exist before but it was pretty awesome to explore). I'll miss living in a lone standing building while the environment around me looks like the aftermath of a bombing. Ah guest world....the memories...the grief....and best of all...the crazy guests that made it all happen.....
I know guest world isn't gonna be deleted but i felt a goodbye was neccesary now as we move on to bigger and better hopes in the newest guest world.
As for my house, which i've lived in since i joined...well it seems that now i need to make myself a new one....or at least find one to live in for now....if only i wasnt so lazy about building xD

Truely amazing! Even just this small release overwhelms me with the creativity this community has, the intensity here so so great i am gasping for breath! My excitement to see the rest is undoubtably the reason i am shaking where i sit at this very moment! This screenshot even includes a great sense of photography, just look at the ngle and it has the perfect focal point! Thanks for sharing this raul!

Well, hopefully there will not be an update for the world generator which is what forced us to stop in the current guest world regenerators; it would make jungles and other things in very odd places...
Not heard much about 1.5 yet, but hopefully not much will change in the world generators so the server should be fine.

Won't having 3 maps risk the cpu being overloaded? With 32gB of RAM I doubt that would be an issue, but now the cpu will have to process stuff accross 3 worlds. I've noticed the tick rate goes down a fair bit when there's close to 100 players so this could possibly hurt the tick rate a little. Nice idea, but a 3rd world, especially if this new guest world is going to be the size of the current one, could create some lag.

Everyone will be spawning in the new guest world by default. The old one will be available as a warp (in short, the new Guest World will become the /spawn)

This is the second (and probably not recommended) way to test a building to see if it is a grief trap.
(The other one is to maybe ask an admin, who will 99.9999% of the chance not tell you)

No - that is in the Member world, not the new Guest world. This a fresh world with brand new spawns and warps.

Unfortunately the seed we were building the new guest world on was out of date so we are starting the process of selecting a new seed and copying over EVERYTHING. As you can guess, this could be a painstakingly long process but bear with us please.

I would think no, because the end has no boarders. It is just endless space so If you want to make a enderman farm you can just go further out.

i wouldn't think there would be a new nether and end world, otherwise it would have been said along with the information in the first post.
if there were an additional nether and end that would mean 7 worlds in total (current guestworld;nether and end, memberworld, up-coming guest world; (if you were to say; a new end and nether were to be added with the new guestworld)), in which could/would lead to server lag.
but thats what i would think at least, who knows, there may be a new end and nether worlds.

I currently do not know about a new nether/ end. I dont even know if it is possible, im sure opti can shed some light on these concerns.

I don't wanna speak for Optical here, but I'm pretty sure there's something in the bukkit code that doesn't allow linking of more than 1 Nether and End to an Overworld. Unless a plugin like Multiverse is used.

If your going to make a new nether just add one to member world, but I see no reason for deleting the old guest world one since old guest world will not be deleted.

May I ask why worlds that are not being used by the server should not be up for download?

People building can finish a build they never got to finish
People can fly around, exploring it, in creative
Cons
People can steal builds, but there are already mods for that anyway (I've seen one that downloads and saves any chunk you walk in, while playing SMP), and if someone is going to steal a build, they'd hardly care about the mod rule.

There is something you missed. You can cheat and find diamonds in the world and dig them up on the server.
If the world is removed, then they'll most likely put it up for download, like they did with the 1.8 world.

If you had read my quote, I agreed that after it is deleted (Are you saying that no worlds will ever be deleted ever again?) it should be put up for download.
