Title: "It was my brothers fault" Not an excuse for a ban
Post by: hennydeez on May 17, 2012, 05:58:36 am
Things you do to refrain from being banned as opposed to this excuse
1. At least uncheck the "remember password" box
2. Converse with your brother/sister to not connect on this server if you know they won't obide by the rules
3. If you want you can remove the server from the list and re-enter it again if you're going to play (What I normally do)

1. Good point, although your brother / sister may know this.
2. Some of the time, they are little brats and don't listen.
3. If you have entered Opticraft with the 'direct connect' button, then when your brother / sister presses on it, they can just press connect, as the address is already there.

Pretty good dot points Henz, and I am sick and tired of those 'It was my brother / sister' appeals.

The point is to make your siblings hear you.
For example, when I say "noone sits on the laptop" soone touches it.
IF my sister really wants to play, I strictly guide her to dont touch minecraft.
She listens to me, as the rest of my siblings. That's why I have no ban record.

Well that's good. You have a sister that listens attentively and does the right thing. Not everyone has that you mus realise.

I made it that way. It didnt come. I mean I tought my sister to listen to me.

Advice:
When she asks to sit on the computer, say yes to her.
BUT: 1) Make her known that she is allowed to play with a certain duration. Lets say half hour.
       2) Tell her to play only on this part. I mean on IE, firefox, or only that game.
       3) If you see her playing in another game, then remove the computer from her, or immediately close it.
       4) Give her a reason you did this. WHen she asks you again for games, then tell her No.
Result?: When you will tell her no, she will remember to play according to the rules.
If she doesnt comply with your rules, then the time of her game gets reduced and the times that she will play are limited.

This is what happened to me, and now she plays more than the allowed because I allow to her since she complies with the rules.

Ever heard of reverse-psychology? The second you tell them that, they will go on this server.

Anyway, I just don't let my sister touch my laptop, not that she even knows what Minecraft is, or know my laptop password. Its not that hard to avoid without going to the big safety precautions Henz does...

Why's this in suggestions? and why does this thread exist in the first place? we all know it's a terrible excuse. it just takes some people a ban to learn the lesson.

First of all, it is a suggestion to the other players.
Suggestions are not only for Server's upgrades.
Secondly, the ban is the result after a process. During process, you need these that Big and me, we are referring to, in order to avoid the Ban.
Finally, dotn forget, that the block history gives the ban duration. So, a mistake like this, with huge grief gives permanent. So, there is no space for improvement after that.

I have a brother that loves Minecraft too. I just learned him to download Minecraft for free. So he can play Minecraft for free and with his own username. If he plays on my PC he is only allowed to play Singeplayer. If he is going online he is never allowed to my PC. Simple enough.

Things you do to refrain from being banned as opposed to this excuse
1. At least uncheck the "remember password" box

This should be the only thing you have to do, besides keeping the password private.  I'm the only one in my apartment and I don't even check mark the "Remember password" button, just in case I have a friend over visiting!  If I've gotta run to the washroom while someone is visiting I lock the computer, which doesn't log you out but keeps them from messing around.

If you let someone on YOUR account then YOU are taking the risk of them doing something and getting YOUR account banned.  Personally I won't unban anyone for "My Brother did this", "My Sister did that", "My Dog sat on the mouse and farted out a grief", excuses.  In my personal option It's NOT a valid excuse.

YOUR ACCOUNT got banned.  Not you, or your brother, or your dog.  YOUR ACCOUNT.  It doesn't matter who was sitting at the keyboard.  It's obvious you either;

A)  Didn't protect your account, or
B)  Allowed them to use your account, or
C)  Just using the excuse to try and get out of a ban

In any case, it's not a valid excuse.  That's just my 2 cents.

It's just a suggestion man to all the other players. For others it may be hard to avoid these mate!
