Hello, tonight i was online in smp and Ian said something about how in the past week there have been fewer people online then usual. I was thinking that if there was some system of references for when one becomes a member. Like a reward sent to whoever refers a new account the the server. There could possibly be some sort of incentive to recommend people to join Opticraft
Just a thought.

Moved to SMP Suggestions.
Good idea.

Maybe a name can be asked when you create an account. Nice thinking.
-
Yep, Good idea

people do get protection blocks and 500 dollar when they become member

He's suggesting a referral system, so people get rewarded for getting people onto the server.

oh~~~. i did bring 3 of my friends to this server. one is OnDoghyun(he ditched the server...that bastard)
one is ferdi0412(he is living in an island with me)
and one is jamesbuilder1(he is in my math class)
we could put them in the introduction saying who brought me to this server or blah blah blah

Very nice idea.
I have seen it in a Greek tribal fights server.
I give +1 for that idea.

i think this is an awesome idea!

Maybe once someone signs up to become a member, next time they come in-game they receive a message saying "Were you recommended by someone and want them to be rewarded? Type /recreward [player name]" or something under the lines of that. recreward = recommend reward.
It just makes more sense to have the message only appear to Members, since they are most likely to stay on the server.
Not sure about the reward, though.
-
no...then people will start making new accounts and saying that they were recommended by themselves.

Keep in mind you need to pay for the game. Even if someone did do that, they'll make an account for $20, then they'll get a measly reward for it. reward < $20
Having the message only appear for Members will delay some people attempts in doing that too.

We can always check the IP.

Guys? Even if you bring more people in the server, then you have to place a lower limit.
I mean that, if you bring someone, then this new guy, has to play at least 2 days(game-time) and to acwuire at least 50,000$ in-game balance.
Because, you can go to a server, find 2-3 guys, turn them into friends, tell them to join Opticraft and you will be benefited by nowhere.
So, limits like these are required imo.

Never seen a guest with 50K. And you can still pay a guest 50K and say to him that he get 50K if he say that you were recommed by the guy that is gone to pay you 50K.
I don't support this. People can abuse this idea. If there is a solution for that I will support this.

No, that idea is open to abuse.
I can easily imagine smart guests going "Hey, I recommend you, you recommend me? Cash for both of us!"
-
I think people aren't here recently because of...yes...
Diabolo III :D
Although i see where your coming from and i think its a great idea!

I think you're all over thinking this a little, all that's required is a referral code.
If you've ever bought something off the internet, 9 times out of 10 it'll have an option to enter a referral code at checkout. Entering this code gives yourself and the person you recommended a reward of some sort, 5% off both of your next purchases for example, thus giving both parties an incentive to give out/use a code.
If we translate this into a referral system on opticraft all it requires is a new member to enter an existing members referral code in the registration process. A reward for using a code could be $1000 in-game cash for both parties.
No, that idea is open to abuse.

What you just said is the whole point of this system. -.-

I like the idea although I already invited all of my friends who play minecraft.

Then go on other server's. Don't shout "OPTICRAFT #1 SERVER IP: SMP.OPTICRAFT.NET MUST TRY"
Just join a little community, maybe suggest it in local or private chat, just get one or two people.

You don't understand -_-
I'm saying that 2 randomers who have never recommended anyone to the server in their life, can just come along and enter the code, get them each money, for nil effort.
