Title: Religious Incident
Post by: SlimHaydy on April 15, 2012, 02:00:58 am
Ok, today while no ops were on, there was an ramble. 2 people came onto the classic server and started to force god on us. They would not stop and they were disrupting others. I do not mean to offend anyone, but this is an international server full of many religions. You can't just go in and force it on people. The 2 offenders were ForeverViolet and VitInvictum. What should happen? A rule about religious talk?

Well were they saying things about specific people or just bad mouthing other religions in general?

I don't agree on a rule.
If religious fanatics come on, an operator should probably kick them. If no operators are on, tell them to fuck off, to put it bluntly.

Well if its one thing I believe in its that if you want to be friends with somebody don't talk about religion or politics.

I banned them both for a day for completely different reasons.  One was saying explicit things, and the other was discussing how he like drugs.  Both came back after kicks and continued their trolling, so I banned them.  They were not the same IP, if anyone was wondering; although it was a standard ban, not an IP-ban.

Religion is a thing of the world. you cannot enforce a law about religious talk. I, myself am not a religious man but I do agree that people forcing religion on another is not good thing. But a rule about it is not necessary.

Not to mention most of the time it isn't really much of a problem.  Its just occasionally when you get a few people online who start trying to force it on people and for the few that do it isn't that hard to deal with them.  There really isn't a need for a rule, plus when there are actual posted rules you will most likely get even more people spamming religious things just to break it and trying to get banned.

Yeah, it does cause a lot of ridiculous trouble. and petty arguments.

no need to make a specific rule, like the others said. It is disrespectful to others to force religion on them, and respect is already in the rules.

Not sure i get the point... they were offending other religions? or just promoting in someway their own? I guess the online OP can understand when some one is offensive or not and the topic is not the point. It could be religion as politics as philosophy as "alimentary choices".
For example i don't eat meat, if i say why i made this choice is a thing if i start bothering people telling em they are killers because they eat animals I'm an idiot and deserve a mute or kick in first instance and a short ban if i go on.
Don't think a specific* rule is needed.

They were trolling, they admitted to that.

Here's your rule:
Server rules
  • No griefing (Destroying other players work)
  • No vulgar drawings
  • No excessive swearing or abuse. (Swearing is ok)
  • Absolutely no harassing or abusive behavior to other users
  • Hacks are ALLOWED
  • Be courteous, ask if you can help someone before working on someone else's creation
  • No towering or creating ugly structures.
  • No bots whatsoever
  • No advertising other servers
  • English only in public chat
  • No reserving of space

See, even this, could escalate into the argument.

The three rules of the internet conversations need to be followed xD

Nope, some people don't really pay attention to the last post of the page, so I thought I should post it at the start of a new page.

I honestly don't give a crap about postcount.

The original issue's been reolved. Locked to prevent further argument.
