I found a couple topics on Nether Portals, but due to overhearing a few people talking in-game I'm thinking maybe rules on them have changed? So what's the deal with nether portals? Can people own them? Is there a central portal for everyone to use? If you build one can you get a mod/admin to light it for you?

Everyone has their own portals, but since regular players don't have flint & steel permissions, a moderator or higher has to light it for you.
Also, since nether portals have a weird bug where they take you to someone else's portal (without knowing until it's too late), use of nether portals is essentially at your own risk.

Thanks for the reply Xeadin, good to know. Even if you have a gate in your own place, but your 'exit' in the nether is shared with someone else, you can always use /home to get back. That's not a big deal.

The thing Xeadin is trying to say to avoid (You, Viper, seemed to have grasped this, but many have not), is that it is no excuse for grief to say you were trapped in someone's home due to a nether portal.
And sorry for the offtopic: Greedy_Jam, there is really no need to put kisses after every message

As far as I'm concerned Clawstrider, there is absolutely no excuse for griefing PERIOD. The only exception is if you're 40 blocks down and accidentally tunnel your way into someone's underground structure. That said, you patch the hole and change the direction of your tunnel.
