Title: Effective Protection stones
Post by: Spamarian on February 08, 2012, 01:23:40 pm
Hello,

Yesterday I entered into smp for about 50 mins, and I went to collect some watermellons in my farms. I fixed the 70% of my farms that are in the upperworld, and I was sure that I will not find grief. But, even if my seeds were there, a hole of 1x2 at the dirt wall, made me suspicious about the effectiveness of protection stones.
I called Nick to explain me why that happened, and he told me wierd, and that the wall wasn't in the p.s range. I amde a visualization, and I found that the ps, had 5 blocks distance to wall, and the 6th block was the glass of /ps visualize. This is my protected area, and the was in the glass.
The stone is 11x11x11.

Can Optical explain me why that happened? Or the glass is the next free area, and the biggest protected area is the stone and 4 blocks till the last protected?

The glass radius that you see whenever you place a protection stone, everything INSIDE of that area, is protected. The glass shell itself, is not protected. (Then again, I could be wrong. This is just from rough memory)

Yes a Persians said, its inside the glass radius, but if the fence is unprotected, they cant get to the seeds.

Hm.. This will reduce a little a bit my farm. Anyway, I am going to fix it, sooner or later.

Thank you guys..
Btw, do we know when the middle stones will be lower in price? I really need one, but I dont want to bankrupt...

I explained to you that your protection stone was 1 short of protecting the wall. The stone protects 5 blocks in each direction, the wall was 6 blocks from the stone.
