One thing i have noticed is that a lot of people are leaving the server. I think we could increase the servers numbers by telling friends or people you know about Opticraft. I think this might help with the resent lose of numbers. Post your ideas. Maybe the voting reward could be made higher to make poeple not "lazy" in voting...

The amount of people that are voting is decreasing, the higher we are on the lists, the more people that are joining.

Look at the General Discussion board for SMP. there are 7 posts (ATM) of people leaving in some way, shape or form. Me included. Arsenic is resigning, icooliam is leaving (again) ironjack and duinis are out becuase of school, bubble broke his arm and cant play, and tbpb in leaving. People are SO FRACKING BUSY! we need to get more people on, or we'll fall apart. Vote and put in the code, tell your friends, tell your enimys, tell your friends friends, tell your friends mom, advertise on other servers, ANYTHING! for every person that we lose, we fall apart more and more. i dont want to see this server go. i have put 5 months of indexfinger-breaking work in to this place. Cmon people! we can prevent this!

for some reason this quote amuses me slightly.
Anyways...yes, advertising will get us more people but you have to acknowledge that we are in school season. People have papers to write, lives to focus. I can guarantee you that at least half of those who 'left' will return on a future date. But at the moment, we'll just have to wait.
Interesting how this a problem for smp. I thought only classic had a "low amount" of people.

But why not? We could just go on other servers with lots of peaple (that we wont go on ever again becouse, OPTICRAFT, and no I'm not adiced why would you say that?) and just put a link to opticraft.net and best server ever in the chat.

We do not condone that kind of activity here. It gives us a bad name and make people NOT want to join this server.
There is minecraftforum.net (http://www.minecraftforum.net/) for a reason.
If you want to advertise, find some other means.

I like to think that the Opticraft community is better than that. Going to other servers, spamming the IP and getting banned is doing the opposite of what we want. People should come here because they think that it will be better than their last server, not because of some spammer.

On top of this, we don't need to be constantly reminded about the number of people that go on this server. We are WELL AWARE of that and we are aware of the causes.
Why do people expect others to 'stay' on here when they have other things to do as well? They shouldn't be force-fed to 'STAY ON OPTICRAFT.'

When ever someone comes onto opticraft saying stuff about their server or a server that they like, what do you think? I normally ask them to stop because I find it annoying and I dislike that person because of that first impression, and also I dislike that server because the person spreading its name is representing it, whether they took it upon themselves or not.
Plus, if there were ever a person to listen, it would most likely be a griefer.
It's a different story if you play on other servers and have friends there and you invite them to our server, that's fine.

Jeez, okay. That was a lot of critisizm. for my server, a small, new, basiclly private server, i decided to try to get a few people on. i went to a relitivly large server, and asked for players. i didnt spam it, i said it once, then went back to my own server. about 20 seconds later, a really nice, polite, really dedicated player came on and played for HOURS building a really nice cobblestone house. ever since, i have had the impression that advertising sometimes works. Cant blame me for that can you? Anyways...

For the first part, lol it was meant to. second, i know that school is in, but still, people play. IRL lives are 100% of the problem, but out of the few million people who play MC, only a select few hundred are on every day. when summer comes around, we either will explode with new players, or we will continue to weaken due to our server not being advertised enough.

All of the above is not in anyway mentioned by anyone else. I 1,000% agree with that, and question why that was even brought up. No one is threatening/begging for people to stay. We are sad to see them go, and wish for them to come back, but if they cant, they wont. Simple as that.

I know a large community of about 200-300 people, you're allowed to advertise there, I'll make a post :D

Just get as many friends in real life to come. I do that :D and that's why we have Cazual

i have brought 4 people that i KNOW irl, and one of those people brough 2 more, although 2 of the 3 that one person brought are banned. :(

We (the opticraft server) are better than that and can get more people by tells other in real life about it(spreading the word).
Xeadin is right. We shouldn't have to stay on the server b/c its what is said but because we like the server and everything in it. For example, most all of the people on opticraft re nice good hearted people and i have made friends with them. I myself have gotten 2 people to play on this server hoping to get more.

We just need to vote and invite our friends. I have been slacking on my votes but I vote when I remember to. Voting keeps us popular. :D
People will always be leaving the server. Some people unnecessarily anounce that theyre leaving and they influence how you think. If various people leave and anounce it, you will think what you are thinking now. "Everyone is leaving." If people just leave out of the blue, I doubt that you will notice and I doubt it will make any difference in your MC experience.
But then again, people are always joining. There are people who mess around a bit with the server and others who are loyal and dedicate themselves to us. It varys. People have lives. As said before, we are in school season. The majority of our players are young. Most of them are students. It happens.
We cant control it. We can remedy it, though. So yea. Chiz happens.

Make sure you are not the reason any one is leaving, treat every user as if they could be the next admin...

the reward is not the problem, its the fact that u can get the reward without voting....

One of the reasons people are leaving is just because they are getting bored. I mean even i haven't been on as much as i used to because of real life and because it is kinda boring to stay on for 4 hours straight. Hopefully when PvP comes out we will see our numbers increase again.
