Title: the Simpsons Power Plant
Post by: Cora on September 17, 2012, 10:45:39 am
Coming soon to an SMP World near you,
the Simpsons Power Plant!!
Live Map Link (http://smp.opticraft.net/map/#/-1066/64/-1656/-4/1/0)
Instead of the 'Springfield' sign, I made it say 'Opticraft'.

I am building the Simpsons Power Plant right next to the Planet Express (http://www.opticraft.net/index.php/topic,12265.0.html) build by Sircy to help power the delivery companies large warehouse. No idea on expected completion dates and not really looking for a lot in help, just letting people know what's going on. If you have any spare wool (particularly dark gray) or smooth stone, it's certainly useful! Protection application will go in once the first cooling tower is complete.

Items Needed:
Items will be removed from list when no longer needed, and there may be more added to the list as they're discovered.
-Gray Wool
-Soulsand
-Purple Wool
-Sandstone
-Netherrack
-Red Wool
-Glass Panes - Glass, or Sand
-Smooth Stone
-Smooth Stone Slab
-Light Blue Wool
-Black Wool
-White Wool
-Cyan Wool
-Iron Bars
-Iron Doors
-Birch Wood
-Dark Wood

September 22 Update: Project Protection Application (http://www.opticraft.net/index.php/topic,13638.0.html)  completed after the completion of the first tower.

September 23 Update: Below is a picture that I've been using for creative reference in the build. The circled and X'd buildings are the ones that are done, or next to done. I will update this photo as time passes.

(click to show/hide)

September 30 Update: YAY!!! Thanks to my wonderful husband I have finished one of the purple structures, AND the fencing around the lot is done. I only need enough iron for the lamp posts all around now and I will be done with my iron needs!!! w00t w00t.

September 1st Update: Okay so lots of purple getting done, last Cyan building is complete, AAAND the entire outer fencing is done, lamp posts and all!!!

October 03 Update: Almost everything is complete. Just need to do the ground/pavement, the power lines/towers, and the 2nd cooling tower and all is complete. You'll notice that the item-need list has been reduced to all of three items. Thanks to those of you who have helped thus far it's been an amazing project. Potential for other Simpson builds to go on the same site as the Power Plant.

October 05 Update: Project Protection granted today - Thank you Nyssa!! Cobble outline around the property now gone since I have the protection to stop people from encroaching on my property. I've started work on the 2nd cooling tower. The project is going great!

October 11 Update: Thanks to Morrison1996, and Codepmman I have designed and built the drunken clam from Family Guy within my protection. I have also put up the Simpsons church with help from Interbane. So thank you guys!!! It's really cool to have these structures within the build. See pictures below.

The Church
(click to show/hide)

The Drunken Clam - yes the sign outside does flash thanks to Codepmman!
(click to show/hide)

October 17 Update: I have completed the 2nd cooling tower!!! All that's left for the outside structure is the pavement and the power lines!! We are well on our way to completion keep that gray wool coming!!!

October 18 Update:  FINALLY DONE!!!! Everything except the pavement. The powerlines, the cooling towers... it's all done!!! EEEP!!! Now I just gotta move my chests and such to a less noticeable location. The chests at /home ecorrigall powerplant are still available for gray wool donations. Thank you!

November 14 Update: Finished the pavement! Yay, now time for the interior of the plant as well as other builds. Currently working on the Simpsons house and using a LOT of birch wood and dark wood. Chests are still available at /home ecorrigall powerplant for those who wish to help out and donate. Thanks for all the wonderful support through this project.

Yes I'm doing all the things on the power plant lot - just the coolant towers would be lame, especially with the size of land I have claimed.

I always liked the simpsons when I was younger, it's a good project and should be an awesome build once you've finished. Good luck cora.
Are there going to be interiors too?
Title: Re: the Simpsons Power Plant
Post by: Cora on September 19, 2012, 03:46:08 pm
Thanks!! I'm certainly trying, but all this clearing, and all the snow is whooping my butt!!! Lol. As for the interior I want to do it - but I want to complete the outside first, see how that goes, and take it from there. I'm realizing now the amount of iron bars I will need for the surrounding fence is intense, so I'll definitely be asking for and taking any donations of iron.

Fair enough, if I find some spare iron in any of my chests I will happily donate some to you. I need smoothstone more than anything at the moment so not much use for iron.  :P

Thanks! I definitely need a LOT of iron. I think that's going to be the one thing that takes the longest to complete, next to clearing... if this clearing weren't taking so much out of me I'd have way more done.

Hahaha, there definitely will be a wall for this one.

Update: I've completed a few more structures, updates are on the original message as always. I'm having a hard time with the materials so any donations are greatly appreciated. I have a list of materials needed on the original post in this thread as well that is being continuously updated. Also, I will be setting up a donation station at /home ecorrigall powerplant later today! I will logblock to see who donated and be sure to give credit where it is due. Thanks.

Updated the first post yet again. We are down to the final stretch here with only 3 items that I need remaining. It has been a long but good haul and the project is doing great. There is potential for other Simpson and other (secret) builds within the site marked out for the power plant (as you can see there is significant room to the left of the power plant within the area I have marked out.) Thanks for all the support and help through this!

Lolz Morrison!! Thank you!! It's true, he's been a GREAT help, aaand I do go through materials like crazy fast. Biggest need right now is the dark gray wool for the power plant pavement, brick, and bookshelves. I've darn near completed the Drunken Clam from Family Guy (blinking sign and all - thank you db aka codepmman) within the vicinity but I need a LOT of red brick and bookshelves to finish it off. Any help truly is greatly appreciated. Thank you! (Also you can go to /home ecorrigall powerplant to place things within the donation chests left there. Thank you!

Cora

FYI.... dont need brick any more....

FINALLY got the pavement done thanks to my manslave codepmman. <3 Now time to get creative and figure out what I'm going to do for the inside of all these buildings. Plus finish the ones outside the plant like the Simpsons' house I've been working on. Anyway big deal to finally be done with all that dang dark gray wool! Yay!!

Simpson's House is complete as well as Dr Hibbards office. I have room mapped out for the school, the police station, krusty burger, and the opera house, as well as most roads complete. So now I just have to get these buildings up and continue working on the interior of the power plant - waiting on codepmman to get off his lazy @^# and redstone wire burns' office so I can continue with it. - though I do need bookshelves for that too.

I can probbably get you 1 stack of bookshelves :)

1 stack will probably be good actually - if not at least close to good. I have tons of paper it's the leather I have a hard time with.

Like before i will help with supplies and if you can explane what you want I can help code with the redstone.

I have a hard time explaining what I want - which is why Code does it, cause he and I are like two parts of one whole... he just gets me no matter how much of a derp I am. Buuut with supplies I will gladly take all the help I can get. Right now a lot of sandstone, white, orange, purple, and light blue wool will be needed - probably more, but that's what I know off the top of my head.
