Title: I'm considering making a snow town!
Post by: square_skull on March 06, 2013, 06:58:48 am
Hello fellow opticrafters!
Like it says in the title, I'm getting interested on the idea
of building a snowy/ice town by the name of "Snowy". Of
course when i say "interested" I mean "I might or might not
build it". this is because:
- I need to know how town protection works
- I need enough resources, Once it is confirmed I'm actually
going to make the town
- I need confirmed how much people would be interested in
building such a structure
- And a good location in a snow biome, preferably a long way
away from other structures, to avoid griefing to occur
- I need to sort some things out in real life about how I'm going
to access a computer which isn't equivilent to a broken
typewriter covered in glue (AKA the laptop I normally use to play
minecraft, which is living hell for those who are not used to extreme
lag)

I need You to help me with the first three things (not the last
one, that one I'll have to do by myself).

REMEMBER, I may not end up creating a town, but I will still be
interested in founding one if my plan doesn't work out.

Yours interested,
Square_Skull

I wouldnt suggest it, snow messes with logs so if you ever get griefed it will be quite the hassle to fix

1. http://www.opticraft.net/index.php/topic,8392.0.html That is how town protection works.

2. From the way you put it, you made it sound like you want City Protection before you even built anything, not how it works, must have significant progress as well as finished work.

Well, city/town protection is basically a cuboid area where only you and people you allow can modify blocks. You can only apply for it when you are close to finished with your town and you have several active residents, which means until then you'll have to make do with protection stones.

Also, I have found a good spot in the new guest world that is a relatively flat, remote snow biome. Here it is on the live map: http://smp.opticraft.net/map/#/-4099/64/6112/-2/0/0

thank you for your great help so far, but another question, how
do you allow people to build and destroy only on a certain area?

There's a command that you learn if your city gets protection. Otherwise, pstones.
