holy cow patty . . . i had no clue notch would ever give his creation to someone, i wonder were the game will go under new management
-
Uh oh...Something dosent feel right here :/
-
I truly dont like this, I dont think minecraft will be as good
-
I doubt its being done willingly. Notch worked hard on MC for YEARS and FINALLY got smp up. I dont think he'd give it up so easily.
-
Jeb will do fine.
-
Oh, and there Is also a 1.0.1 pre release! Changing trampling crops a little and such, nothing special.
-
I don't like the direction minecraft is going so hopefully this will change things up.
-
To be honest I wasn't surprised, gradually Jeb has been move involved and added more important features. I hope it doesn't become all fantasy though, enchantment and brewing is just about enough.
-
Well some people saw this coming ;)
Especially Notch, who seems to be taking all the praise for making Minecraft, instead of sharing it with the team, when as far as I know, he has abandoned Minecraft for Scrolls and left it for others to do.
The only thing I think though is that they should stop adding in new abilities, and things like that, as, in my opinion, they are slowly ruining the game. I would like to see new blocks, but nothing else (Possibly an aether realm very similar to the mod though. With birds and whatever. That was cool).

I agree with Nick. Hopefully this will make me want to play minecraft again. And maybe Notch gave him lead developer because hes working on something else :O
-
This should be interesting to see what he comes up with, Jens' mod API should be a lot easier to install mods and whatnot, it should be nice.

He abandoned Minecraft for Scrolls.

I feel abandoned is not the word to be used here but more like He left Minecraft for Scrolls.

He got the max cash, which would have peaked over Minecon, then went down, as Minecon was huge for publicity. Then he went on to his next game.
-
But the word abandoned makes it seem like he left the game and no one else is continuing it.

Fine, agreed.

Can't believe a guy is actually digging his own grave..........
He left minecraft for a non original silly game called scrolls........
He just abandoned the thing that got him to the world of success??
Screw Notch!
And now lets be friendly with Jeb_ the one who really takes care of minecraft and still wants it improving
Gratz and good luck Jeb :)
But for Notch I am speechless >:( :(

The game was fully released, that is not abandoning the game. he just moved onto a different game.

But still it is upgrading tho.

Maybe a few patches here and there but i doubt anything drastic will be put into it now.

The only big thing is the mod API early next year... Nothing else that I know of.
-
I find this to be a critical step rather than to be a lovable step.
While Notch started Minecraft, after there were more people on the job Notch was less and less active on making stuff and tweaking stuff on the server.
In my opinion, this is a real great step in moving on.
-
Agreed.
And welcome back, raul :)
