SMP should now be online. Might take 1~ hour until your DNS updates to the new ip. No need to change anything, the server is still accessed via smp.opticraft.net

The SMP server is going to offline for the next few hours while some maintenance work is done on the database & general hardware. I will post once things are back up.

Hi,
As you'll all have noticed, the website was offline for the past several days. We took this action after discovering a security breach on the server. As a result of this breach user data may have been compromised, so we are urging all users to change their passwords, especially if you were using them on other services. All passwords were stored by passing them through a one-way hash function, with a unique salt per user. This means that no plain text passwords were leaked, however we still advise you to update your password.
We apologies for this unfortunate event, and will be working on making several changes to the site in the next few weeks.

What happens if you change the name but you never log on to Opticraft until they update? Will you still have issues with balances and homes? Also what about servers that are fully updated to 1.8,
Will those servers have issues?

You'd still lose your protection stones im afraid. PS - have added a /whowas command which will show you the past/current names of someone.

Top voters will be addressed soon.
As an update - all plugins have been updated, and the server is now running on 1.8. However it is still not safe to update to 1.8. Unfortunately the precious stone plugin still doesn't support UUIDs - despite being actively developed. Hopefully UUID support will land shortly, otherwise I will have to reimplement it in opticraft - which is annoying but can be done.
For now, please hold out on your name changes.

Deekay is correct, your information should be recoverable - although some might need to be done by hand unfortunately - we'll see.
Updates did not got as planned - some of the plugins have awful migration to UUID and would take several days to migrate. I am writing scripts to manually do this myself, and will then go ahead and update again. Timeframe is the same - 24-48 hours. Sorry

Edit: It is now safe to change your names
Hi guys,
Please do not change your name, as you will lose your money & protection access and possibly other things.
SMP will have several of its outdated plugins upgraded shortly (24-48 hours), after which name changes will be supported.
Until then please stick with your name. We will try and restore balances, protections, etc for those that have already changed their names.
I will post a follow up topic once this has been resolved.

Update: Maintenance has been completed and the server is back online. 1.8 and 1.7.10 clients can now connect. Disguisecraft is broken - I will look into replacing this component as soon as possible. Additionally I will be looking into implementing some of the 1.8 features shortly (new blocks etc). We do not yet support name changes - so should they come out, be advised that if you do name change, you will lose access to some parts of the server you previously had. This is because several of the plugins we use still do not support UUIDs. I will gradually be migrating these over. Bans and other critical systems now work with UUID's.

The SMP Server is offline, and will be for rhe next few hours (4-6), while I undergo work on updating it to 1.8 and UUIDs. This is a fairly large chunk of work. Apologies for the extensive downtime. If any issues are encountered, we will continue on 1.7.X. I'll update this post informing you whether it is safe to upgrade. Until then, do not update your clients. I will be on IRC to answer any questions.

Hi guys, Here are the extremely late top voters for both August and September. I may try automating this system in the next coming months to remove these delays. Additionally I have been working on the Opticraft plugin side of things, and should have * limited* 1.8 support on SMP within the next week or so. This will allow 1.8 clients to connect and play, but will not include the majority of the 1.8 content changes.
