Title: People with the power to lock threads and delete posts, READ!
Post by: morten2ela on March 02, 2012, 06:41:43 pm
Before you go around an delete posts, lock threads, and eat cake, please take your time to learn a few definitions.

Necroposting:
On a message board, posting something irrelevent on a really old topic to bring it to the top of the list topics. name comes from the fact that you are bringing it back from the dead, thus Necro. a practice common among n00blars.
Bumping a topic half a page up is not necroposting.

Will fill this thread out whenever i feel like it!:p

Imo, if the thread itself is no longer relevant, than a relevant post on a very old topic is still necro-posting.

In my opinion:

- creation topics can always be necroposted, since there is no expirationdate on a good creation
- project topics can be necroposted by their original poster or anyone wanting to pick it up again if it is not finished yet, for finished projects... just... no
- suggestion topics can be necroposted if there is any relevant new info, or if it is a really good suggestion that has not been looked into yet
- support topics can be necroposted if your problem has not been dealt with yet after a long amount of time. They are I think usually locked when the problem is solved tho.
- application topics can be necroposted, but there's no much use in it...
- helpful articles topics can be necroposted if there is a problem that's not properly explained or something's not up to date
- offtopic... depends on the topic ^_^
- introductions, not much use, but why not :P

This thread basically serves no purpose as we have not had much of a problem with people locking topics. Locked (oh the irony)
