He is working on something, saw him in-game yesterday.

I see a few misunderstandings here about GIMP and spritecraft.

First of all, using spritecraft for classic is worthless. It does not have the correct wool blocks and some other blocks aren't the same either. So there is no reason why anyone would use it, except if they're too lazy to figure out how to use gimp or do it by eye.

GIMP is in essence the same as paint, it just provides some tools. Just using GIMP to view the picture you're spriting isn't bad. I think what Wyboth calls cheating is using optimizers on the images, such as colour reduction and dithering. These can be seen as cheating, because they do take lots of work away and make the picture lots more detailed than you could ever do yourself. But, to be honest, we are the only ones that use water and leaves in our sprites, just because they are very hard to work with. I would challenge anyone to try make even 1 square of the snake in art, or the coat of Notch in art1, without cheating, and see how much detail you can get out of it. With my GIMP floor palette, there are 432 colours to choose from, each with their own combination of blocks. Your eyes can't even see the difference unless you put them right next to each other, but in the big picture, it does make a difference.

I suggest you first finish the one in my world though, before starting on this new challenge already. There's more than enough work left to do on that one.

Trial for crafter sounds kinda stupid imo, but I don't really know what to say either. He has good things, and less good things. I'd say just 1 more large, detailed build should do.

Hmm, just checked, there's 9 servers with opticraft in their name. The ones with 1024 player cap are definitely ok, checking the rest now :P

EDIT: The others are all down, so whichever one you pick, you're in the right one :)

my opinion, yes, I'm a critic:

Cathedral: Inside could use a lot more work, the walls are bland and straight. The outside didn't look too bad at first, until I noticed roof on the back. It is just flat and looks unfinished.

AK47: Looks good, would have been nice if there were something like an inside, where you could see the bullets, but overall good build. Suspect this is from a model though, looking at the level of the design in this one compared to his other work.

Colosseum: Top row is not finished for no apparent reason at all, also the inside is entirely empty.

White fortress: Circles are... no circles, unless intended, it's not that good.

Travel plane: Aren't these supposed to be round? Also, again, the inside could use more detail. The stair to the roof of the plane... da fuq?

Jet plane: Again, details. The design is totally bland and far too flat for a jet. Also the cockpit area is just empty.

Lamborghini: To be honest, I'm kinda disappointed about this one. Of course the outside looks great, but, this was 100% definitely made from a model. And when you exclude the design and just look at the details he added himself there are some flaws. For example lights, mirrors, engine, doors. All basic parts of a car, and, on this scale definitely possible, so, required.

In short, the builds are not bad, but they need just that little more detail to make it enough. I'd say no for now but don't let him make another build, just let him improve on the current ones.

Just gotta drop in here ^^ There's a difference between building 'totally legit' and building by hand. Yes, I did mine by hand, but I did use models. Since no wip-pics of the pony were included I have a strong belief it was generated, then imported, but don't quote me on that. It is definitely generated, but they can still have made it by hand. At least the paintwork is self-made because it is impossible to be generated with tools.

How about mods/ops against all the other members instead?

Start at 50,
staff member posts: -1
other person posts: +1
staff wins if 0 is reached, we win if 100 is reached
rules: can't post twice in one streak: You have to wait for the opposite team to post until you can post again, to prevent 2 team members from posting after each other all the time.

Start a new topic with that as the game then...

Ooops, back to Zero!

just saying, cus the chance you'll ever even get close 100 is very close to never, ever
