Hey guys,
As you will have obviously noticed, the site has had a long overdue facelift. What do you all think of it?
The theme is a modified version specific to our website. The new theme should make it much more enjoyable to navigate the website, and it adds more access to useful links such as the live map, donations and voting through the new menu bar. It also boasts a much cleaner colour scheme which should be more easy on the eyes.
If you encounter any issues with the theme, please post about it. We will try iron out any formatting issues as soon as they crop up.
Special thanks to Nick and Relkeb for assisting with images.
If you do not like the theme, you are able to to change back to the old one in your profile section, but I recommend you give the new one a chance, you might like it!
Secondly, we have added a top voters page so that you can see where you lie at the top of the votes table. You can access the page here (http://www.opticraft.net/index.php/page,TopVoters.html).
Just a reminder that the top 3 voters of each month will recieve rewards for their support, so even if you slacked off this month, you can redeem yourself next. The rewards will be announced shortly :).

I don't mean to be negative, as I think the top bar of the website is really good, but I dislike the black and white theme. I think it makes the site look a bit sad (emotionally). As this is a gaming website, for a game, my suggestion is that the site is more colourful. Is that easy to change without having to restart?
Other than that, the new layout is great, and easier to browse with. I the way the tab you are on is highlighted, and donate and vote and in colours. Big +1 on that.
Another idea, not needed at all, is to make the bar scroll with you when you scroll down the page. IDK if that would really be useful, but it's worth a suggestion.

edit: also, links need to highlight orange (the same dark orange that the rest of the site uses).
edit2: they highlight orange when you mouse over them, but they need to be that color orange all the time.

Otherwise, liking the new layout ALOT :D although I agree with claw a little bit. For a gaming website I feel it needs a bit more color (say an epic picture in the background of one of our builds or something :P) or give it something that makes it more relatable to minecraft.
But either way, awesome work guys ;)

3) Give the quote boxes an outline of some sort. When people have multiple quotes within each other, it's pretty much impossible to see who said what.

3. As I have said before, its so depressing, why not make it colourful? Have you ever seen a black and white (good) enjoyment site? They all use bright, happy colours.

Sure a few things need to be fixed, but overall this layout id nicer and more professional.

Guys, I know some of you right off the bat aren't liking it, but if you give it an honest chance (say a week of use) I'm sure it'll grow on you. Don't say you don't like it simply because you are afraid of change.

I'm not saying I don't like it because I am afraid of change, there are a few things I hate about it. The small words, my eyes are not good with words as it is, and making them smaller makes it worse. Finding links in posts is harder now as well because they are black just like any other word instead of blue.
I will give it a chance.

I made one but I couldn't get relkeb's opinion on it. It has colour :) I doubt it will be used, I'm sure they'll just make their own if they need to change it.

~ Great job looks very clean, I do think however it might be nice to see the same picture/signature incorporated into our website ;) as we have on the voting page.. The castle picture just seemed to go along with the game :)

I like the layout. This issue may just be my internet but compared to the last layout this is slower in loading. Not a HUGE problem but I'm just impatient :p

I think it's basically fine but just a couple of things stand out. As mentioned, a tad more colour around the place would be nice, especially on the Opticraft banner. Also, I now have to scroll sideways to view the whole of a page, not a big deal or anything but just slightly less convenient. If I zoom out to see the whole page then the text does get a bit too small too.

i think that instead of a white background, there should be a dark repeating background image.
this is an example of what i mean, but definitely not a final image. i included the black font + slightly larger font in this screenshot. this is a carbon fiber background image i pulled off of google.

the white background really drowns out all the other colors on the page, whereas this carbon fiber really draws the colors out. any other suggestions are welcome.

First of all, I want to mention that I read the 1st and 4th page only. Its 2:14 am, so excuse me..:)
I like the new design, but there are things that make it seem bad.
Pos+:
1) Nice menu bar. Nice colour.
2) More options as you have already mentioned.
3) I like the name, which reminds me gothic things.. I am not fan of it, but I really like it..
Negatives-:
1) The transparency is too high..
2) The letters are too small.
3) The quotes are not shown so well are before and it confuses the reader.
4) The Voting system has too small letters, too.
ANd something extra that it is already mentions but it belongs to a "P/s", is that I get a week now, only 3 diamonds for 4 votes..

I like the whole theme, I think.Definitely a much better update for us as a server ;D.
To bring a few opinions, I think the site is pretty good. When you go to the forum page, it heavily reminds me of www.minecraftforum.net (http://www.minecraftforum.net), which isn't so bad. I kinda like the color scheme for the site as well, however I think we can go beyond black and white. The overall logo is pretty definitive of our server, epic yet simple, and the block "being any kind of block". The voting idea seems to be kicking off real well and I think the monthly rewards are a pretty good idea. I love the menu bar, making everything much simpler to navigate for those who are new to the forums.
Really nice. We are definitely becoming a bigger and better server :D

I think you should change one thing - when I get the voting window, the border and the space around the title is a boring grey color. In my opinion you should change it to a more lively color like the cyan color that was before it.

ZX made this for a movie I was making (Still in the works). He gave me permission to suggest this as logo. I think it works as it is nice and simple, and uses our 2 main colours (Well old colours if black is the new one).

Using the old theme I could scroll left or right to view an image too wide for the comment box, now however scrolling does nothing.

I REALLY like that, just tried it and I think it's rather cool! :D The block changing at the top of the page is awesome! It's similar to the default but with a bit more colour and I think it's more lively and nicer to look at! Nice work! :)

opti's complaint about the theme with the background is that it somewhat conflicts with the fancy menu at the top. the menu "just doesn't blend right with the background," and i can somewhat agree with it.
if anyone has a suggestion on how to make the top bar conflict less with the background image, please speak up in this topic.

The Word "Opticraft" as it is now, is very cool.

I think the lettering for the word 'Opticraft' is too halloweenish, especially with the the new colours of dark grey/black and orange.

One thing i would suggest is having a different colour at the top of each section on the home page, where it says "user info" "stats" etc maybe this could be a different colour as at the moment it is white and blends it to much would be nice to have something to distinguish each feature on the home page.

The Word "Opticraft" as it is now, is very cool.
That is because we are going for a professional look, not a "hey look at our cool banner" look. I chose orange to fit the site theme. Plus, as dejected stated, the block changes.

I think that will really suit the website - with the changing block. I do like the current Opticraft logo but it seems kinda familiar- that font..... anyway... I think It's gonna be a great and epic success :D

First off, I like the new background and layout :)
Secondly, this is a suggestion for the donate page.
I noticed the classic donation page had 'No rewards - Simple donation - You choose!' option. So maybe you could also add that to the SMP donate page too (since a lot more people will be viewing the SMP page)
Or another idea would to have it as its own category underneath 'SMP' and 'Classic' ?

EDIT -Something like 200 refreshes later... How about a 1% chance, or 0.5%? 0.06666% seems a bit like its made not to be found, instead of made to be found as a cool bonus

Sorry Spamarian, but I don't think he'll be making a change like that simply because one person has a small monitor. If multiple people were experiencing this issue however, that would be a different story. But honestly, I don't even think the new print is any smaller than the old.

I dont know dejected. I will wait to see if more argue about that, that the title of each topic is too small. Today I am at the college, and on the same pc that I use all these days(my laptop).
I dont know what is wrong, but I feel they are smaller.

Can you make it so the screen (Topic pages etc.) fill up the whole of the screen space when maximised? On my desktop, about 1/3 of the space is just the black background. If this is not possible, could you center the space being used?

What browser are you using? Because it should be centered.

i would like to scale the content area to the size of the resolution (as it is a bit wasteful of screen space right now), but the stretching conflicts with the menu bar at the top of the page. i'm really not sure how to rework it to make that possible. i am no web designer :p

i don't know how to make the background of the menu bar scale in a way that doesn't make it overlap the part that should be a curve.

i simply cannot explain that one.
when inspected in firefox, the "headerim" css class does not contain the "background:" property at all, yet it is definitely in the CSS that is uploaded to the server. clearing the browser cache doesn't even fix it :p

The "last post" button on the main forum overview? There is one, right underneath the title of each forum.

Yes they do- they are shaded differently and have the "tac" image on them.

Oops I should have seen that tac, it is clear enough :S I blame my hereditary longsightedness for not spotting the emboldening. (It's the genes' fault).

Will make sticky's darker, not lighter than normal posts when I get home. That's how it was, but since merging in dejected changes it seems a few things got broken, such as the menubar in firefox.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, there are a lot of pages and I didn't thoroughly read through everything.
When I hover over the names of people in the mumble box, the text turns smaller causing everything below it to kinda shift a little bit. Also when I hover over the different rooms, they're all links to the home page. I'm assuming this isn't intended. Seems like all text in the mumble box is rendering as a link. (I'm on firefox)
Also, I'm liking the new layout a lot, awesome job :)

Optic, how does it work if 2 people are tied for 3rd place? Say Smite and I both get 40 votes, Nick gets 41 and Relk 42 (Random names and numbers). What would happen then?

we already did once. but the owner/admin of the site didnt like that, so we had to switch it to this way.
