Why use a 3rd party program to start up a client? It's unsafe.

What have you tried so far Morrison?

Magic launcher makes it easier to use and update Optifine. It's also safe.

Right when you log in it does this?

Ok so far I've tried just logging in like normal, reinstalling, completely deleting minecraft and doing a total re install and thats about it. It worked the day before so idk what happend between then and now. The problem with magic launcher is optihelp. The optihelp (our ticket claiming client) is not very compatible with magic launcher.

Have you tried manually updating your Lwjgl files?
Here's (http://sourceforge.net/projects/java-game-lib/files/Official%20Releases/LWJGL%202.8.4/lwjgl-2.8.4.zip/download) the download link to update them.

just for clarification... Modloader is the thing that's not very compatible with magic launcher.

You deleted minecraft, but did you delete your .minecraft folder? Just make a copy of your worlds and texture packs and put them back in when youre done. The game will make a new .minecraft folder.

Just looked into this some more, looks like you gotta either update the files I gave you , or downgrade Java lol

You can download Mods a hell of a lot easier, like Optifine.

Ok I will try this stuff once I get back, going on a scout camp out the next couple days. thanks for the help and if anyone comes up with a different suggestion go ahead and post it. And cschurz is there a way to use optifine and optihelp without modloader because for me, magic launcher works better anyway.

I already did that and am long past that lol. I'm down to either  needing minecraft to release a updated version compatible with Java Oracle 7 or figure out a way to downgrade my java to Java 6.

Open up the control panel and click the Java icon and select Java then View. Check the version box that you want Java to run. Hit OK a couple of times and you are set.

Problem is the only java that I have is Oracle 7. I use a school provided macbook so I can't put much software on it.

So you just downloaded the latest security update, 7 U11?

School mac. so everything auto updates.

For a mac do Applications --> Utilities --> Java Preferences

That should have all the versions you have installed on it. You can delete the U11 version, reboot then put 6 U30 or whatever you want on it.

Don't have anything there even for java. I have already tried that.

I PM'd you this too, but try this bin folder; I've included the latest fork of lwjgl (not merged with release yet). Just back up your ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin, and replace it with this one and try it out.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8208380/bin.zip (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8208380/bin.zip)

If that brings you no joy, I can help you get root access to your mac (probably) so you can downgrade to Java 6.

Ok so the problem stand that Java and minecraft on most macs don't work with each other if you have the updated java. If any one can find me a way to get it so Java Oracle 7 can run OpenGL I would much appreciate it. But for now I am leaving my mac behind and using a old HP laptop that I haven't touched for a year so I'll keep my fingers crossed one of the two will work.

Note- I you do find a fix please make sure the following are not needed to do so terminal, system preferences/ Java, and console

I've compiled the latest lwjgl version (was updated 2 days ago). It might be worth another shot since you can't downgrade your java.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8208380/bin.zip (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8208380/bin.zip)

Unzip that, and put the files in your /minecraft/bin, and the files in the natives folder in /minecraft/bin/natives , then give it a shot. Some people have had success with that, some haven't... Fingers crossed though.

I would like to know from anyone that has technic launcher. Does the vanilla version have the ability to log on to regular servers and not just tekkit servers? If so I will be able to join everyone again tonight on opitcraft.

yes it does. BUT, it has the minimap mod. and it's not compatable, being 1.2.5 and all.
