Dunno if this is the fix, but try this:
Options... > Chat Settings... > Chat: Shown
Make sure it says "Shown" and not "Hidden" or "Commands Only"
Yeah that worked, thanks for the help. This topic can be locked as the issue is resolved. I must have turned off chat by accident or something dumb, thanks for the fix.

Weird thing happened today, so I logged in and tried to type "hey" like normal, but I got a read chat error: CANNOT SEND CHAT MESSAGE. This is weird because I logged off last night fine, no issues with staff and I wasn't muted. So either a random staff member muted me last night, or, most likely something is acting weird with the server. Relogging won't fix this. Anyone got any help with this?
EDIT: Had roza mute and unmute me, did not work! Still getting the red error message. Is this a known issue?

How so?
I'm not personally inclined to make large farms anymore, but if someone with enough gumption wanted to they could definitely abuse this. Guardian farms would be the ugliest/largest farms to be made on the server yet (aside from the largest iron farms, like tiggy's/frobalt's/lando's/mine).

Adding prismarine to the market would be cool, being able to sell it would be nice, but I think you would end up having people making large farms again. You can actually farm the new mobs extremely quickly with the proper setup. (Probably a con, depending on how you look at it)

Thanks for taking the time to do this, I can't imagine its very pleasant. Do you know if areas with city protection will work via UUID when your updates are done?
