Offtopic / Clash of Clans
« on: May 15, 2014, 12:24:34 am »
So if you don't already play clash of clans, well...I don't know get it if you want for free I guess.
It's a mobile phone/iStuff device game and you can make these clans kinda like a crew in gta v and stuff and join meh.

Search for a clan called "Wolf Packerz" as soon as you can (for newer players, unlocked by rebuilding the clan castle).

Um. Bye. Pl0x.

Don't post hatey shit please.

This guy. This must have been one of the most hilarious situations to have happened in this server's existence.

Alrighty so point is, blizzard64 is completely frozen and claims to have been for months. Nothing works, relogging, restarting client, /kill, we even tp'd him into a pvp arena and killed him there and it didn't work.

Couple of suggestions that were thrown around ingame...

1. Delete player.dat file
2. unfreeze him (admin required)
3. I don't know just unfreeze this dude.

I doubt anyone ever clicked the links so none of that nonsense here anymore.

Recommendations: FNV on my last mod app, does that count?
Why should I be a moderator: Been here a long time with no ban record, already know how to do moderating since I was one before, honestly this gets repetitive so I'll leave the decision up to you because you know me and I don't think writing a giant wall of text increases my chance.

Edit - I also want to add that I have changed a lot since when I was a moderator. Sometimes I wonder how the hell I even got it the first time because I was just such a damn idiot. Seriously.

Random chat about anything. Nothing more or less.

So I'm rank 401 in the world on Mortal Kombat 9. Anyone else into hardcore fighting games? Like constantly spending time in practice mode making up gigantic complicated combos? I don't know why but I enjoy it so yeah. Anything interesting happened to anyone recently or something you wanna talk about?

Offtopic / Build me a computer
« on: March 25, 2014, 12:47:46 am »
So on another topic I told you guys my dad's beast of a computer (at least at the time it was built a decade ago) was given to me.

Problem is, a lot changed in a decade and now this computer struggles to do much of anything. I looked up a few recommended builds and when we include my special requirements (soon to come) it costs 550$. That right there is my budget. It can exceed but not by much.

Special requirements:
Let's start off by saying I don't need a new case, monitor or mouse.
If it is possible to use old power supplies, then count that out too.
I would prefer the CPU be at least 3.2 GHz.
Video Card at least 1 GB
At least 4 GB of RAM
It must obviously be compatible.
My tower can actually fit a shitload of hard drives so only 512 GB is required.
Keyboard doesn't need to be fancy, just normal shaped and not the generic crappy ones.
Don't need an optical (hehe optical) drive

Budget: 550$
Link to the current recommended build I have: If this build is good enough let me know.

And if I really like your build, there might be some steam cards involved for you.

Offtopic / Thoughts on mobile gaming?
« on: March 23, 2014, 08:15:17 pm »
So I picked up Killzone Mercenary for the PS Vita two days ago...here are some screenshots.

(click to show/hide)

Let me restate this: This is a PS Vita game. Not a console game, but a handheld portable game. The PS Vita is said to have slightly better hardware than a PS2. This game can run these graphics and a little more with a steady frame rate. For the record, this game is actually loads of fun.

But I'm not here to just say "these graphics are cool" and leave it at that. Can we all just take a moment to realize how far portable gaming has come? To remember the times when we were AMAZED at the new portable nintendo system that had color? To remember when we heard of a new portable system that had the power of a SNES? 3D graphics? We could play games like Super Mario 64 (and I do happen to have that port) on the go, or when we just want to lay on our bed and relax. And then there's this talk about how games could be played with other people. But this was not just multiplayer. It was multiplayer with people miles away from your home on another console. And this very technology was being brought to you not just at home, but wherever you were at.

Remember when on the PS2 you could play massive Battlefront II matches with other players around the world? When Ratchet and Clank broke the restraints set by technology to go beyond your home? Well it's not just on a giant PS2/3/4/XB/360/1 anymore. This is happening on something much more compact. And you can still have beautiful looking games such as this, with all the basic features PSN has to offer (friends, trophies, and even party chat. Seriously? You couldn't even put the smallest amount of RAM for party chat on the PS3?). But of course, not all games are easy. If you need to know the best team you can have to be the best you possibly can in Pokemon. You just go to your computer and look it up. But when you can't figure out how to open up the vents for the secondary contract in Killzone like I did yesterday, I had an internet browser right there. Pause the game, go to the home screen and tap browser. No progress is lost, and when you return you have an idea of what you're doing, and you haven't lost any progress from having to shut down the game to use the browser.

And now our phones aren't just loaded with 3 cell phone numbers and Snake anymore (although if you like it like that, that's still an option). Our phones are capable of bringing us worlds like cheep cheeps flying through warp pipes in a world riddled with lawsuit threats. It is capable of running games about not playing, but instead watching your carrots grow, and your cows and your farm...okay, on a more serious note App Store games are everywhere. Some great, some not, few amazing. Anyone else know what EliminatePro was before it was shut down? Never before (and after) did I ever actually play an iPhone game and actually enjoy it as a hardcore gaming game or however you want to comprehend those few words. I mean, there are some other great games that get close to it (Battle Bears is great, Infinity Blade brings us some insane graphics, Call of Mini does good knock offs for us with Infinity being the closest thing to Halo other than what was EliminatePro) but the main point about mobile games on a phone is how much potential there is to it. If someone brings up the NVIDIA Shield and knows more about it than I do they can. Also, the aforementioned device not only plays games on (I believe it runs on Android, not sure), but it can actually play games along with your computer. We have seen other examples of this with the PS vita as well. Cross Play, anyone? This handheld device will actually play games and stream them straight to your PS3/4 so when you are at home, there's always another option to enhance your experience even further. Want to further look at the details of what you have on your PS3/4 right now? Why not try using the Vita as a second screen? And in fact, why not just put those games directly onto the Vita (PSASBR, Sly 4, Worms) so you can just keep playing after you're done with the PS3/4?

So after you're done reading this wall of text whether you skipped all of it or not, let me just make my final point that closes up this huge little rant: Mobile gaming has an amazing future ahead of it and it's incredible how far such technology has come with abilities such as the beautiful screenshots you just saw of Killzone. And yet we have so much more to see in the future.

So what are your thoughts on mobile gaming? Share below, I am interested to hear what you guys think. And if anyone knows about the NVIDIA Shield they can still explain it here.

Forum Games / Song Lyrics Game!
« on: March 16, 2014, 04:23:18 am »
Absolutely no googling. The point is for this to be fun.

Anyways, post the song genre and its lyrics. If nobody gets it in the specified amount of tries set by poster. I'll start.

Genre: Rap

Lyrics: If I told you I killed a [person] at 16, would you believe me?
Or see me to be innocent Kendrick you seen in the street
With a basketball and some Now & Laters to eat
If I mentioned all of my skeletons, would you jump in the seat?
Would you say my intelligence now is great relief?
And it's safe to say that our next generation maybe can sleep
With dreams of being a lawyer or doctor
Instead of boy with a chopper that hold the cul-de-sac hostage

Offtopic / Favorite game franchise competition
« on: March 10, 2014, 03:37:53 am »
So a little game I made up. Name your favorite game franchise other than Minecraft (I hope I don't need to explain that bit) and whichever game/franchise gets the most votes wins. I don't know, just thought I would see what you all like.

I'll start this off with Mortal Kombat getting my vote.
(And I assume FNV will place his vote on Fallout but let's see)
And since people are choosing multiple I guess I will throw in Ratchet and Clank and Super Smash Bros, and maybe Gears of War. Honestly I feel like the first three to R&C and Gears of War were the only good games though. Judgement was awful, like just horrible. Except for the overrun game mode. That was amazing. R&C didn't go downhill as bad but I just feel like it isn't the same after 4. I would add DragonBall Z but those games got ruined after the PS2 era so yeah. Battle of Z is a huge disappointment. I used to love the super monkey ball games too. Those games were INSANELY difficult. Super Smash Bros seemed to get better with each game, and I'm counting on Nintendo to not screw it up with their fourth game (shame on you Epic, for ruining what was my favorite Xbox shooter), although it does look promising other than Bowser seeming to be overpowered since they gave him a different moveset and made him way more agile. Star Fox holds a special place in my heart, but damn it when are they going to release another game?! I was okay with Adventures but let's have another game where you're in a ship/tank like 64. Halo is slowly going downhill in my opinion. You know it kinda seems like to me that the third console curse doesn't just apply to consoles but games as well. Well, actually this would be the Fourth Game Curse. Even Mortal Kombat went downhill after 4, which got horrible reception even though I honestly like it. I honestly never saw the replay value in Pokemon. It's like you beat the Elite Four, finish the post story and then...? At least Mystery Dungeon (and now I slowly raise my flame shield) had way more replay ability due to having much more content, way better story and randomized dungeons with plenty of mysteries (no pun intended, if that counts) to find. Plus you are actually doing the fighting so it gives you more options, plus items are way more useful, yet more precious because you need to plan ahead before using items because most of them aren't easy to find.

Oh. I just went on a rant.

Mortal Kombat - 1
Ratchet and Clank - 2
Super Smash Bros - 1
GTA - 1
WWE - 1
Titanfall - 1
Fallout - 1
Bioshock - 2
Elder Scrolls - 1
Sonic - 2
Pokemon - 2
Half-life - 1
Counter Strike - 1
Team Fortress - 1
DoTA - 1
GW - 1
Portal - 1
Star Wars Battlefront - 1
EVE - 1
Assassin's Creed - 1
Jak & Daxter - 1
Kingdom Hearts - 1

Offtopic / Quick question
« on: March 07, 2014, 03:59:15 am »
Am I the only one who owns a PS Vita on the server? Just curious.

And if not, here's a word of advice: Do not get the worms game released for it. Horrible FPS issues since they left PS3 graphics on the ps vita port. *facepalm* Hotline Miami is great, Retro City Rampage is pretty fun but not a lot of replay value. Overall I think the game I own with the best replay value is Mortal Kombat.

Bottom line: I need a crew! Anyone want to take me in? PS3 players only.

Offtopic / Which should I get? (Airsoft experts, look here)
« on: January 29, 2014, 04:59:18 am »
All pistols are green gas/propane powered blowbacks with a mag cap of 15. FPS values based on 0.2g BBs.

If you know a decent amount about airsoft, feel free to vote. If not, just pick at random because they are all very similar anyways.

I want to keep the FPS pretty low because it would make me a grade A asshole to go around cqb arenas shooting people with 450 fps guns. Also, my dad complains my current gun (clocking in at a whopping 430 fps) shoots too hard. Range is not too much a concern to me since I plan on strictly playing CQB.

Pistol 1: WE 1911 Tactical Desert ($110)
Alternate color scheme
FPS:315
Range: Approx 80 feet
Barrel length: 5.1 inches

The 1911 pistol, full metal and full desert (or not). Has a G10 grip you can look at if you scroll down a bit in the link.

Pistol 2: WE 1911 Tactical 4.3 Desert ($100)
Unfortunately, there is no alternate color scheme. Yeah, it does look a little weird but it's not too bad to turn me away.

FPS: 300
Range: Approx 65 feet
Barrel length: 4.3 inches (hence the name)

Same as above with smaller barrel, less FPS and less range. Nothing different otherwise. This could be good for cqb (which as said earlier I plan on spending pretty much all of my airsoft time) but I still don't know if the shortened barrel will feel better or if the range will affect me at all. However, the shortened barrel just seems to look nice for some reason. The FPS drop is no problem for me.

Pistol 3: WE 1911 Tactical 028($100)
No alternate colors, but this looks nice so no need for that.
FPS: 315
Range: Approx 80 feet
Barrel length: 5.1 inches

This is almost identical to the first with some minor changes. First off, $10 dollars cheaper so there's that. Also, it has a tactical 1911 grip as opposed to the G10 grip on the desert pistols. Also, a more standard color scheme. Everything else is still the same, functioning grip+thumb safety, RIS rails etc.

Offtopic / How to actually play games on Mac
« on: January 28, 2014, 03:25:20 pm »
How? The hardware sucks. Any suggestions so that my max can actually even decently run games like TF2? The CPU clocks in at 2.4 GHz and has 4GB of RAM. That's just all you need to know about the hardware we're dealing with. And don't tell me not to get a MacBook. It's too late for that. Yeah. Basically same discussion as that one steam games topic.
